**Activities and Responsibilities of the Post**

**Principle Purpose of the role**

The Intelligence Clerk processes newly submitted intelligence, evaluating the quality of reports, linking to the Intel database and disseminating against agreed policies and procedures within the joint Norfolk and Suffolk Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB).

**Main Activities of the Role**
- Receipt and assessment of information and maintenance of record management systems, ensuring that there is an effective record management and audit trail

Process newly submitted intelligence, evaluating the quality of reports, linking to the Intel database and disseminating against agreed policies and procedures
Input accurate, timely information and intelligence onto a range of IT systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy regarding data management and security
Provide advice and guidance to officers and staff from around the Forces in respect of intelligence submissions
- Disseminate intelligence/ information, where required, in line with national standards, to support and ongoing operations and aid with achievement of forces policing objectives.
- Provide general departmental support to Intelligence Support Officers in the CIB, and contribute to the efficient running of the Bureau.
- Undertake a range of administrative activities, to assist the department in meeting its objectives.
- Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies and guidance relevant to the role.
- Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management.

**Person Specification**

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

- Good communication skills with the ability to listen to others and transmit and receive information effectively
- Skilled in the use of use standard IT packages, systems and/or databases
- Experience of inputting, checking, recording and retrieving information from computerised systems
- Good team working skills demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required
- Obtain College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Qualification (to complete within 12 months of appointment), and continued IPP compliance
- An understanding of relevant legislation, policy, and guidelines (e.g. Intelligence evaluation process (3x5x2x2), NIM, MoPI, GDPR)
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours, to include weekends, as required

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

- Previous experience of working within an intelligence environment

Hours of work are 37 per week.

This post is offered on a permanent basis

**Special conditions / Points to note**
- The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of the duties and responsibility of the role, the duties may from time to time vary without changing the general character of the role or the levels of responsibilities
- Whilst the role is normally based at the aforementioned location, you may be required to work at other establishments across both Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such instances
