Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Trust is looking to recruit 1.0 WTE lead research midwife to support Children Growing up in Liverpool (C-GULL) - an exciting new programme of research focused on improving the health and wellbeing of children and their families within the Liverpool City Region.

The study will establish a large contemporary birth cohort of 10,000 first-born babies and their parents, from early pregnancy through to childhood and beyond. This study will offer an unprecedented opportunity to understand more about the early origins of a range of health outcomes for children and their families.

The C-GULL study is funded by the Wellcome Trust, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the University of Liverpool and delivered in partnership with a number of key stake holders including Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust and the NIHR Clinical Research Network - North West Coast.

Internal secondments may be considered but applicants MUST SEEK APPROVAL from their substantive clinical line manager FIRST.

The postholder will be the lead research midwife for the study, working closely with the study management team at University of Liverpool to ensure successful recruitment to time and target. The post-holder will undertake quality assurance for screening and eligibility, supervise and support staff conducting consent and follow up visits, and engagement with the wider community. They will work closely with the University of Liverpool team to embed CGULL into routine care at Liverpool Women’s Hospital for the duration of the study and be a source of midwifery research expertise and advice.

The successful individual will have excellent communication skills, be highly organised and have the ability to manage and prioritise workload within a diverse, multidisciplinary team. The individual will be experienced in the management of clinical research activities particularly within a maternity setting.

This individual will demonstrate a ‘can do’ approach to support the ongoing strategy to achieve the C-GULL research ambitions. There is a strong civic impact component to this role, particularly ensuring the population of the Liverpool City Region help shape and eventually benefit from this research.
