Under the leadership of the Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children, the Deputy Named Midwife will have delegated responsibility for aspects of the safeguarding children agenda across the Named Midwife portfolio including domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour based violence and child exploitation. Working in partnership with the Deputy Named Nurse for safeguarding adults and the Deputy Named Nurse for safeguarding children and young people, the Deputy Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children is responsible:
For ensuring safeguarding practitioners receive dedicated safeguarding supervision, support and advice to aid their development within the service.

To actively support front line staff across the Trust to adopt a ‘think family’ approach and consider the needs of dependants when they are providing care.

To take an operational lead for policy and guidance development ensuring any changes or amendments to national guidelines and legislation are fully considered.
