We are looking for a compassionate practitioner, with a good understanding of safeguarding populations at risk of harm and multi-agency working, who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills in this area of practice.

You should have a good understanding of safeguarding and be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills.

The post will include the provision of specialist safeguarding advice, support and supervision on safeguarding matters to front line staff across the organisation.

The post will also include practice development and prevention of the wider harms agenda.

In return, we will offer you an insight to working within a specialist corporate function and support you through clinical and safeguarding supervision and training, to support your personal and professional development.

As a Safeguarding Practitioner you will be a valued member of the Safeguarding Service which sits within the wider Corporate Nursing functions The post holder will report to the senior safeguarding practitioners on both sites and will work closely with all members of the Safeguarding Team to help the Trust:

- to meet the Safeguarding Statutory duties and responsibilities
- embed effective high quality safeguarding practice
- improve clinical standards and performance

The post holder will assist with the continuous quality improvement of safeguarding systems and processes, contribute to the development of policies, procedures and guidance, support development of and deliver safeguarding training, provide advice and support to front line colleagues and external partners, support safeguarding audit and provide specialist input to assist safeguarding investigations and reviews.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

The post holder will contribute in ensuring Liverpool Hospital NHS Foundation Trust meets its commissioning responsibility for Safeguarding Children and Adults. This includes assurances that staff are aware of their responsibilities around the Safeguarding agenda and that the Trust has positive and effective working relationships with partner and external agencies.

The post holder with work with complex Safeguarding issues and will require strong communication skills, confident in working with external agencies such as local authorities and the police. The post holder must be able to support bespoke practice development for wards, influencing and negotiating with health and social care providers to improve standards and prevent likelihood of abuse and neglect.

The post holder will first and foremost support front line staff to adopt a ‘think family’ approach and consider the needs of dependents and or carers when they are providing care.
