Research Integrity Adviser

**Job Purpose**
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Design, develop, deliver and evaluate a range of learning activities and online resources to enhance understanding of research integrity, good research practice, ethical publication and governance. This includes working with early-career researchers, PhD Supervisors, Principal Investigators, colleagues in Research Services, Graduate Schools, Postgraduate Researchers and College Research offices to develop, promote and coordinate suitable training strategies.
2. Lead on the coordinated development of new guidance, webpages, resources, social media, and other innovations in the area of good research practice, ethical publication and governance.
3. Take a leading role in the design and delivery of campaigns and programmes of events for research integrity, research governance, compliance and ethical publication.
4. Provide high-level support and specialist advice to the University’s network of Research Integrity Champions and Advisers with regards to training requirements and local activities and liaise with other key services (e.g. the Library and Data Management Teams) in this respect.
5. Take a leading role in the initiation of, support for, and championing of researcher communities and networks related to good research practice and research integrity including design, recruitment, governance, facilitation, and brokering connections to stakeholders across the University and externally.
6. Support the development and administration of the research misconduct process to provide backup for the Research Integrity Adviser (Misconduct), escalating when required, and to ensure emerging issues are proactively addressed in training and resources.
7. Create and manage project plans, including prioritising to meet targets and stakeholder needs. Identify and pro-actively manage project risks and build effective relationships with key stakeholders and staff groups across the University to ensure projects are delivered within the required timescales, and demonstrate value added.
8. Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative data from across the University and make recommendations based on the analysis to inform project design and delivery.
10. Contribute to other research governance, policy, compliance, and integrity activities across the institution to drive agenda, support team objectives or as agreed with line management. This may include clerking and other committee meeting support, records management, report writing.
11. Develop and maintain strong personal internal and external networks, for example representing Research Services at the Russell Group Integrity Forum and the Scottish Research Integrity Network, to access intelligence and good practice from across the higher education sector, and where relevant, more broadly.
12. Proactively analyse and provide targeted communications/intelligence as a credible advisor to allow appropriate action to be taken to support the development and delivery of research/er initiatives.
13. Represent Research Services at meetings, external groups, conferences, and seminars to keep up to date with developments and gain and share across the team information/knowledge of working practices in the higher education context.
14. Be an effective team player who is cooperative, communicative and gains the trust and support of colleagues and partners through respectful collaboration and building consensus. Contribute to team meetings, planning, joint initiatives and projects, and ongoing development of the team by sharing information in a timely manner and providing transparency in decision making.
15. Ensure that the Research Services mission is shared, understood and supported through consistent collation/storage of relevant data and supporting information and the regular updating of Research Services project status reports and portfolio web pages.
16. Proactively identify, undertake, and share opportunities for ongoing professional development, both for yourself and for colleagues the wider Research Culture and Researcher Development portfolio.
17. Perform other duties as requested, consistent with the grade level of the position and agreeing appropriate prioritisation of work with line management or other relevant stakeholders as needed.

A1 Either: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4) or equivalent, (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related roles. Or: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different role(s).
