In the first instance the university usually requires this to be an MSc where funding beyond one year is uncertain or until assessment of progress during year one justifies transfer to a PhD programme (without delaying final submission). In addition to an academic supervisor, all postgraduate students will have an independent adviser. Either the adviser or supervisor must be a member of full-time University academic staff.
**Funding Sources**
**Research Training Base**
The Clinical Research Fellow will be based in the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine (SCMS) of the University of Glasgow.
**Research Supervision**
**Teaching**
There will be no regular commitment to teaching but research fellows are encouraged to contribute to both problem-based learning and clinical teaching sessions for undergraduate medical students when research commitments allow.
**Assessment of Progress**
**Future**
Research fellows will either return to run-through NHS training, or may become eligible for an academic training post.
**INFORMATION REGARDING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY**-The Graduate School of the College of Medicine, Veterinary and Life Sciences supports all aspects of postgraduate training and development.
