TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT Ensure the development of clinical skills of staff within a given specified Development Zone of responsibility; ensuring key development performance indicators are met. Be responsible for a case load of staff for a given Development Zone, identifying training needs and assessment in liaison with locality managers. Provide clinical and non-clinical development support to staff in their Development Zone of responsibility, adapting when necessary to assist colleagues in other Development Zones within the Trust. Participate in the delivery of Higher Educational modules at Universities within the Region.

Deliver Education and Training quality assurance mechanisms across the specified Development Zone of responsibility and others when required. In liaison with the Divisional Management Team ensure that operational mentors are adequately educated and trained to provide support to staff. Be familiar with the different learning styles and behaviours to ensure effective development is achieved. Undertake driving assessment and driving instruction in a range of vehicles under emergency/non-emergency conditions, as required.

Undertake the design and devise continued development of a wide range of educational packages in accordance with relevant awarding bodies. Facilitate the logístical requirements supporting the delivery of educational courses in varying locations, including emergency situations to Ambulance and Non Ambulance staff. Actively ensure that conflict resolution, infection prevention and control, equality & diversity, manual handling and any other element of training in the annual plan is developed and employed in the Development Zone. Provide theoretical/policy information to other managers and staff based upon an in depth technical knowledge and relevant multi-disciplinary practical experience assist in recommendations for policy-derived decisions.

Assist in the tuition and mentoring of trainee/seconded Clinical Development Officers, and document in accordance with national and local policies and procedures. EVALUATION Undertake the evaluation, examination process, and assessment of clinical and non-clinical staff to standards determined by relevant awarding bodies, current Health and Safety guidelines, Quality Management systems and Trust policies and procedures. Ensure the accurate documentation of all evaluations and assessments is compiled and processed in accordance with national and local policies and procedures. REPORTING Design and implement reporting mechanisms to ensure the accurate and up-to-date evaluation and assessment of staff.

Ensure that all clinical information is recorded and maintained in accordance with current National Guidelines and legislative requirements. Monitor and record the progress and development of students throughout the educational process, identifying, dealing with and documenting difficulties encountered by individuals. Report and document out of hours incidents for action by the Clinical Education Manager, to include if appropriate the steps taken towards resolving any difficulties. Compose student / course reports as appropriate and submit for approval to the Education & Training Manager.

LIAISON Maintain links and liaise with senior management from other Emergency Services and health care professionals, developing and sharing best practice where appropriate. Establishes and maintain regular contact with operational divisional managers/officers to identify the provision of student training needs. Liaise with EOC officers to ensure clinical responses are being apportioned to facilitate the students best development. OPERATIONAL Maintains own professional registered status as a paramedic clinician in accordance with the current requirements of the Health Professions Council.

Act as scene managers / incident officers at incidents or major incidents when required to ensure the safety of emergency personnel and members of the public and to actively participate in the dynamic management process of staff on scene. Perform the full range of operational Paramedic duties either as a crew or as a solo response to emergency or urgent responses. Demonstrate clinical and non-clinical practices/skills that require a high degree of manual dexterity within a number of training disciplines e.g. development/clinical/intubations.

OTHER Ensure equipment to be utilised during the educational periods is safe and fit for the purpose and carry out minor servicing/assembly e.g. manikins. Maintains patient derived information in accordance with Caldicott Guidelines and the Data Protection Act. Assist in ensuring building security is maintained and breaches in security are dealt with in accordance with Trust security policy documents.
