The post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the Consultants within the Neurology Team at Salisbury, working closely with administrative colleagues at UHS Neurosciences Southampton to ensure that referral information is communicated effectively. To produce clinic letters and documents using Electronic Patient Records, collect and collate investigations.

To respond efficiently and effectively to telephone queries from patients, parents/guardians, and other health care professionals. Working in conjunction with UHS Southampton Neurology Services.

Secondments will be considered

Typing of clinical correspondence and documentation, ensuring this is produced in a timely, proficient, and professional manner, adhering to corporate guidelines, also uploading information on to the UHS PAS system.

Providing a contact and liaison point for written and telephone queries on behalf of the Consultant and their team from patients, GPs, nursing staff and other departments within the Trust, using judgement to establish the priority of the contact.

Communicating directly with, and managing, enquiries from patients, their relatives, and GPs with regards to results, appointments, and related information to ensure a rapid and responsible service.

Receiving and distributing incoming mail, prioritising as appropriate, using judgement and experience to decide which documents are to be passed on to the Consultant and which may be passed directly to other areas for action or for information.
