Radiotherapy Treatment Co-ordinator

Ensure the clinical areas are well stocked, clean and tidy. Monitor and replace items when required. Ensure clean linen/gowns are available and disposing of dirty laundry appropriately. Ordering and checking stock for the radiotherapy department, liaising with the head of department to ensure budget overview is maintained.
Unpacking order and distributing stock to the appropriate areas. Act as a Radiotherapy unit receptionist using computerised patient administration system. Organise and co-ordinate patient appointment scheduling for the day to day running of the treatment units. Retrieve and deliver notes for clinics as required.
Collect notes and treatment cards for patients on completion of treatment. Carrying out additional duties as requested by the Head of Radiotherapy or management team, commensurate with the grade of the post General Clerical Duties Make and amend where necessary patient appointments for outpatients within the radiotherapy department (i.e. treatment planning clinics etc.). Book / amend patient transport as required Liaise and arrange appointments for support services e.g.
physiotherapist, nurses. Maintain machine / clinic schedules. Answering telephones, taking, conveying and dealing with messages. Bleeping hospital personnel as requested.
General Clerical duties as required by radiographers and other healthcare professionals. Ensure that patients notes are tracked correctly using the hospitals computerised system. Liaise with Booking office, clinicians, nurses, planning department and any other areas as required Undertake data collection for audit/research purpose as required General clerical tasks e.g. photocopying, filing etc.
Patient Care Duties Greet patients on their arrival, book them into the appropriate area and direct them as required. Communicate with cancer patients regarding their appointments and general care. Assist in the dressing/undressing of patients where required. Where necessary attending to patients personal needs (e.g.
assisting with toilet). Organise refreshments for patients. Liaise with staff groups to facilitate the continuous care of the patient. Provide a source of support and information for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy.
Following training, deliver information regarding the radiotherapy process to patients. Support distressed patients and families/carers when required Able to identify when patients /carers need referral for specialist services/support and make the appropriate referral as necessary. Communicate that a referral has been made to the appropriate professionals in the team. Health and Safety/Risk Management All staff are responsible for working with their colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to our patients and other service users.
This includes complying at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Policies, including Health and Safety policies, in particular by following agreed safe working procedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reporting system. Infection Control The jobholder must comply at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Infection Control policies, in particular by practising Universal Infection Control Precautions. Hand hygiene must be performed before and after contact with patients and their environment. All staff have a responsibility to listen to the views of patients and to contribute to service improvements based on patient feedback. Training and Personal Development Continuous Professional Development The jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for his/her own personal development by ensuring that Continuous Professional Development remains a priority.
The jobholder will undertake all mandatory training required for the role. Respect for Patient Confidentiality The jobholder should respect patient confidentiality at all times and not divulge patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role. COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The postholder will be required to liaise and communicate clearly and professionally with cancer patients (many of which are elderly, frail or confused), carers, and departmental staff at all levels, including Consultant Oncologists. They will be required to assimilate, assess and appropriately process information to achieve appropriate and correct radiotherapy treatment care pathways for cancer patients.
