We are a successful engineering and manufacturing business now seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support the Purchasing Team Leader in the purchasing of all product components, complete assemblies and spare parts to enable the range of products to be manufacturedand/or supplied to our customers. We can offer a salary plus bonus and incentive schemes along with 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, on site parking, pension and health scheme after qualifying period.

Key Tasks:

- Assist the Purchasing Team Leader with the overall planning and organising of the purchase of materials and outside sub-contract work.
- Create Purchase Orders and reconcile with supplier invoices
- Processing supplier invoices and entering onto ERP system
- Resolution of supplier queries and any associated payment queries
- Enter information onto the ERP system and facilitate the smooth running of the MRP system.
- Import bill of materials (BOM), create works orders and assist the Purchasing Team Leader with requirements for material purchases.
- Communicate, negotiate and build relationships with suppliers.
- Follow up on delivery dates, communicating any delays or material shortages to the Purchasing Team Leader
- Provide administrative support and coordinate annual appraisal of supplier performance.
- Expedite all purchase orders and log delivery information.
- Read and understand engineers’ drawings in order to print drawing packs when completed by the Design Team
- Support Purchasing Team Leader with business improvements projects

Support the Supply Chain Manager with:

- Work schedule (projects / orders / priorities)
- Progress on orders with expected delivery dates
- Material shortages effecting due dates of deliveries
- Due dates for deliveries of finished product
- Specific technical issues with each project/product
- Quality issues relating to supplier performance

To be successful you should have worked on an ERP system ideally and have some purchasing, buying or supply chain admin or be keen to learn and have worked in another role that has duties that relate to the role of Purchasing Assistant. You should have excellentPC skills, be very accurate and thorough in your work and be able to follow processes and procedures to ensure the accurate ordering of parts and pieces of equipment.

Key to the success of this role is good personal knowledge of manufacturing techniques and systems, relevant industry standards and best practice for the company product line.
