**Job Introduction**:
BBC Audio, BBC Scotland and BBC Northern Ireland announced a new partnership in December 2023, which creates a BBC Audio production hub spanning Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast. The new unit will create content across a variety of genres but with a focus on arts and culture, drama and books, and jazz and classical music - made for Radio 3, Radio 4, the World Service and BBC Sounds. The move is part of the BBC’s ambitious Across the UK plans. It builds on the success of the partnership BBC Audio launched with BBC Wales last year and means that for the first time BBC Audio will have bases in all four nations.

Existing network radio content made by BBC Scotland and BBC Northern Ireland will come together along with a range of output which will transfer from England. Scotland will see the arrival of Radio 3’s Jazz Record Requests, 12 episodes of Radio 4’s Loose Ends and 50 editions a year of Radio 4’s flagship arts programme, Front Row. Scotland will also become the home of BBC Audio’s production of books and readings programming for Radio 4 and the World Service. Radio 4’s Pick of the Week will move from Salford to Belfast.

With more than 500 staff producing over 90 hours of content every day for virtually of all the radio networks as well as BBC Sounds, BBC Audio is Europe’s largest production entity specialising in audio. Our creative teams produce 20,500 shows and make an extraordinary range of content - from Greg James’ Breakfast show on Radio 1 to, Woman’s Hour, and You & Yours for Radio 4. BBC Audio’s music teams underpin, R1, 1Xtra, R2,R3, the Asian Network and 6Music and include some of the UK’s largest music festivals, the Proms, R1 Big Weekend, Reading/Leeds and Glastonbury. In speech production our Science base in Cardiff as well as Drama, Books and Arts from Scotland and Northern Ireland are part of a growth strategy that is transforming audio output across the UK.

**Main Responsibilities**:
This opportunity is for a **Content Producer** — a creative programme maker who never leaves the house without their headphones, someone with the skills and passion to find amazing items to showcase a selection of highlights from the past week on BBC Radio. The CP will be responsible for producing the weekly edition of POTW, utilising their curation skills to turn a series of seemingly random clips into a propositional listen which will drive audiences to seek out more on both BBC Sounds and our live linear stations.

We’re looking for a talent spotter who can identify the right voices to present the show and collaborate on writing engaging scripts which elevate the chosen selection of content. You’re good at building relationships and will seek out connections with BBC and independent production teams across the UK so as to ensure the flow of ideas and content. You’ll be very organised and able to work quickly. Technically you’ll have great editing skills to stitch together all the elements of the show.

The role is based in Belfast. It is hybrid working, with an expectation of being in Belfast BH at least 3 days per week

The Content Producer will report to** **the** Head of Content Production, Scotland & Northern Ireland.**
- Passionate about a variety of radio genres
- Demonstrable experience of finding and producing content
- You will have expertise in a range of audio production techniques including feature making
- Experience of making editorial and journalistic judgements
- Knowledge of output across platforms and appreciation of how our audiences consume content
- You will have the editorial judgement and confidence to take responsibility for the output
- You will be organised, able to prioritise your workload, and work to deadlines.
