This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to our communities by helping to improve equity in end-of-life care. We're looking for someone to join the small but established Community Engagement team consisting of the Community Engagement Lead and the Community Development Ambassador.

Community Engagement connects North London Hospice with the community and the community with the hospice by building connections, relationships and partnerships with our local communities. It also includes our Compassionate Neighbours volunteering scheme which is part of a wider network of hospices in London and the South East. It is a social movement of local people enabled and supported to be more compassionate in their communities by providing social and emotional support to people towards the end of life, either one-to-one or as part of a group.

We are looking for someone who is committed to building quality partnerships with our local communities and can ensure that our communities are at the heart of everything we do.
- To manage the Compassionate Neighbours referrals so that everyone involved is kept updated.
- Data input and management of the Compassionate Neighbours database which includes volunteers and people who have been referred for support.
- Ongoing monitoring and reviews of the one-to-one relationships and groups and implementation of improvements based on feedback received.
- To manage and promote the Compassionate Neighbours groups and ensure participants’ attendance is recorded and to help develop a calendar of activities and events.
- Production of regularly reports and desktop-based research
- To assist with the planning and setting up of events such as open days, development sessions and training - including online.
- Attendance at events to promote hospice services

**Key Skills & Experience**:
The key skills for this role are empathy and compassion and a ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

You should also possess excellent organisational and administrative skills and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, demonstrable experience of engaging stakeholders at various levels, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across other teams.

**Accountable to**: Associate Director - Outpatients and Wellbeing Service

Job Purpose

The post holder will be a part of the small but established Community Engagement team consisting of the Community Engagement Lead and the Community Development Ambassador. Area of responsibility

The role has been developed to support the team to implement its ambitious new strategy to meet the needs of our local population. It will contribute to the smooth running of Community Engagement by helping to raise awareness of hospice services and providing operational support to the Compassionate Neighbours scheme to increase its reach.

Key tasks

**There are six main areas in the Community Engagement strategy**:

- To lower barriers and ensure equitable access
- To widen participation and educate all about hospice care
- To support resilient communities to be equipped to support end of life care and conversations
- To understand our communities and support clinical staff to adapt our service models accordingly
- To tackle social isolation for people with a life limiting illness
- To value and support our community engagement volunteers
