Work at all times within the Trust policies and statutory legislation including emergency resuscitation and manual handling procedures. Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through professional attendance on patients or through clinical access. Acquire knowledge of Trust Policies on infection control, disposal of sharps and clinical waste, manual handling and control of substances hazardous to health. Use own knowledge and skills to ensure safety of oneself and others through training and adherence to protocols.

Attained or working towards level 3 NVQ in Health Care. Be active in enhancing own knowledge base, the post holder is expected to undertake continual development including venepuncture and cannulation training. Promote a patient-focussed service in a caring environment and ensure collaborative working relationships with all other departments. Under the direction of practitioners, ensure a smooth workflow through the area by organising patients and liaising with teams in the wider healthcare setting.

Accompany Inpatients and Outpatients to and from examination rooms Liaise with wards to arrange appropriate patient preparation for examinations and safe transfer to the department Assist team members with manual handling using appropriate and safe technique Use communication skills to provide accurate and clear information regarding imaging procedures Prepare the patient for imaging procedures including the completion of pre-procedural assessments/checklists and clinical observations Undertake patient safety checks prior to their examinations, and complete safety documentation. To report any concerns to a more senior member of the team. Ensure the clinical environment is fully prepared for procedures including the selection of medical devices, cleanliness and immobilisation equipment. Ensure medical devices are ready for use including safety checks, this will include changing MRI coils ready for the next examination Check and maintain the stock levels of consumables and linen in each room.

Monitor departmental stock levels and order supplies as required using EROS system. Check pharmacy stock and dates. Order stock as required Use an aseptic non touch technique or sterile procedures to prepare equipment for procedures and maintain patient safety (e.g. image guided biopsy).

Occasional transporting of biological hazards. Support radiographic staff to position patients for imaging procedures. Acting as a chaperone & provide support to the practitioner during clinical procedures. Provide patient support throughout simple and complex imaging procedures, Actively monitor and report any change in patient condition or any problem or hazard within the department to the Practitioner in charge.

With additional training, the post holder is expected to undertake specialist procedures such as Venepuncture and intravenous cannulation and complete the appropriate checklist documentation Deliver post-procedural care including information, clinical observations and monitoring and make basic data entry regarding this. The post holder is expected to document information as part of the patient record or where appropriate contribute alongside a registered practitioner. Have good IT knowledge of the Radiology Information System (CRIS), booking patients on, confirming patients, inputting clinical details etc. Provide clerical assistance as required including taking and delivering messages to the appropriate team/ colleague.

Always behave in a professional manner in attitude, neatness of appearance, punctuality and competence, thereby upholding the reputation of the department and the hospital. Be flexible in shift patterns, working hours and days and willing to work across all areas of the clinical imaging, including mobile services. Undertake a departmental link role e.g clinical governance link, alongside Band 6 radiographers. This will provide additional support to team leaders and wider colleagues.
