The Senior Unscheduled Care Nurse will be responsible for coordinating the nursing team within the Mental Health Assessment Units and have an integral role within the wider multi-disciplinary group associated with the units. The post holder will provide a service for individuals with complex mental health, physical and social care needs who present in crisis/distress including assessment and arranging follow up care with both internal and external agencies. They will provide a service to all referring organisations which include SAS; Police Scotland; GG&C Emergency Departments and crisis teams over a 24 hour period. They will also work alongside the Mental Health Paramedic in the Mental Health Response Car providing assessment and treatment to people in their own homes who are referred via the Scottish Ambulance Service control centre. The post holder will report to the Nurse Team Leader within the units and be responsible for prioritising workload and utilising resources appropriately to ensure person centred care is achieved in a timely manner. They will participate in “in house” training which is provided within the units and have opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge within unscheduled care. They will supervise junior staff and complete electronic documentation in accordance with GG&C policy.

The shift pattern is; rotational over 24 hours
