An opportunity has arisen to work with the case note library team within the Health Records department at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. Main duties will include sending and receiving patient case notes, filing case notes in a safe, secure and confidential manner, following terminal digit system as well as other filing systems specific to individual record types. Tracking of all case note movements within the department using NHS tracking system, Trakcare. Destruction and Cull of case notes in accordance with the Scottish Government Records Management Health and Social Care Code of Practice.

Due to the physical and repetitive aspect of the role, you must be able to lift and handle heavy case note folders and to bend and stretch to retrieve case notes from shelving.

You will also be expected to move large volumes of boxes to perform various aspects of the role to ensure storage space is maximised. This role also requires manoeuvring loaded trolleys and cages on a regular basis.

The role is based in a fast paced environment where the ability to prioritise workload while working individually and as part of a team is key.

You should be educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) level or with relevant experience. Accurate keyboard skills are required along with an understanding of computer programs. Previous clerical experience as well as patient administration systems would be beneficial but not essential as training will be given. A level of English language competency and communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and effectively is required, as is the ability to perform under pressure.

Staff may be required to work flexible shifts, across various sites throughout Fife based on the needs of the service.
