**Responsibilities**

Day to day running of the centre including staff, volunteers, marketing, promotion and general office duties relating to the work of the charity and key holder responsibilities

**Hours**

25 hours a week; days and hours to be agreed some evening and weekend work will be required from time to time. Holiday entitlement: 28 days pro rata in a full year, this includes Bank Holidays)

**Salary**

£26,000 pro rata (based on a 37 hour week) paid monthly in arrears on the last working Friday in each month.

**Job Purpose**

The main duties and responsibilities of the Coordinator are:

- To oversee the centre and manage its staff in accordance within the parameters of and under the direction set by the Trustees.
- To recruit and support an inclusive range of volunteers to take part in day to day activities and one off events at the centre
- To develop and implement procedures for effective governance of the centre’s staff Responsibilities will include delegation of tasks, recording of staff behaviour and discipline, training, statutory record keeping, rotas and recruitment as directed.
- To work closely with the volunteer shop management committee and provide administrative assistance and support as required
- To push forward with the creation and implementation of plans for our community café.
- To promote the use of centre, shop and its events. Responsibilities will include amongst other things, maintenance and population of the centre’s website, increasing social media presence, maximising publicity opportunities and networking with the local media, charities, local authorities and other stakeholders both virtually and face to face.
- To develop services and facilities in accordance with the aims of the Trustees and bring new ideas for its growth and improvement to the attention of the trustees at bi-weekly meetings.
- To develop close working relationships with local partners, particularly regular hirers with whom we currently have arrangements in place, to seek compatibility of activities and delivery of innovative joint ventures and events.
- To encourage local services and activities to be run from the Centre, for example open days, social events, public meetings, advice services and annual general meetings.
- To liaise with all staff and users to ensure the smooth running of the Centre and its activities.
- To work with the volunteer Building Manager, to ensure that the building is suitably maintained through the day to day repairs, maintenance programmes and external service contracts
- To review and update the centre’s policies and procedures for Trustees’ approval this to ensure legislative compliance
- To ensure that services provided by hirers are compatible with the terms of their hire.
- To prepare reports for and attend Community Centre Trustee meetings and Annual General Meetings.

**Other related duties**
- The post holder will also undertake such additional duties as necessary in relation to the work of the community centre.

**Personal Qualities**

The Coordinator will have a strong commitment to helping members of the community get involved with the centre by providing a supportive and accepting environment. The Coordinator will also need to be self-reliant, energetic, and able to work on their own initiative and to prioritise activities while performing the tasks delegated by the Chair and trustees. The continued success of the centre will depend heavily on the organisational skills of the Coordinator and their ability to communicate effectively with all members of the community while building strong working relationships with all colleagues, partners and Trustees. They will need to have excellent people skills, knowledge of safeguarding, understanding of confidentiality and be able to bridge the communication gap between all stakeholders. They will need to be organised, methodical, able to work under pressure and able to complete tasks despite interruptions from visitors to reception or the shop. They must have strong administration skills, an ability to delegate and to prioritise tasks with a strong desire to streamline and improve efficiency.
