**DEPUTY HEAD OF SERVICE**

Purpose of the role

The Deputy Head of Service works alongside the Head of Service to ensure we provide high-quality education and social care support to our students. This role provides leadership to Centre Managers and our Multi-Disciplinary Team, ensuring that centre operations and our compliance meet our standards of support. This role has a responsibility for driving effective and efficient practices across our Teens+ centres.

Principal duties

**Management**

Lead by example by acting as a role model for our values.

Line management of Centre Managers and Education Supervisors, providing guidance and support to ensure that our management team are knowledgeable and empowered to deliver a high-quality service for our students.

Develop and support the Multi-Disciplinary Team’s capacity to meet demand, planning as necessary to support the continued growth of the charity’s services.

Have oversight of the performance and development of Teens+ staff, ensuring good practice is followed and staff are working within and adhering to the professional standards of the SSSC Codes of Practice, the Care Inspectorate Standards and the organisations Policies & procedures.

Able to facilitate and offer good quality supervision to the MDT team and to use and follow the annual Appraisal processes.

**Finance**

Support Centre Manager’s to deliver a high-quality service within budget.

Support Head of Service to develop proposals to grow our services, such as contributing to funding bids, for example.

**Service delivery**

Work with the Head of Service and Centre Managers to identify a programme of continuous improvement, to ensure we keep developing our high-quality service.

Support the MDT to ensure that our compliance records are kept up to date, providing reports on service delivery as required.

Work with the New Support and Community Access Manager to support planned transitions in and out of our service.

Work with the Next Steps Coordinator to plan for the on-going development of outcomes and meetings the Project brief.

Support the development and delivery of training and skills development for Teens+ staff to ensure that we provide a high quality, safe and welcoming service for our students.

Identify operational issues early and develop mitigating actions to ensure we maintain our high-quality service delivery.

Work with the Operations Manager to ensure online - CRM compliance meets the expected standard of the service.

Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, such as families and funders, ensuring Teens+ engages regularly and appropriately at all times.

**Communication**

Work collaboratively with other managers to further cross department working.

Be open, accountable and approachable to encourage a learning culture within the organisation.

Work with the Centre Managers to fully understand their needs and issues to avoid any potential disruption to operational activity as the organisation continues to grow.

Be able to adapt the communication style used to meet the needs of the audience.

Be an ambassador for the promotion of the organisation internally and externally.

**Corporate responsibilities**

Work with the Head of Service to ensure Teens+ adheres to all internal processes and procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety, GDPR; Safeguarding; Equality and Diversity and Inclusion**.**

**Other**

**Key Metrics**

Feedback scores from the MDT and other managers, compliance inspections, employee retention and engagement within the department, stakeholder feedback.

Support the process of analysing the Staff Survey feedback and the implementation of any future development or improvement plans.
