**Head of Room / Lead Childhood Developer**

**£1,000 WELCOME BONUS, Payable on completion of 6 months probation** (tax deductible)

**Salary: £26,000 -£27,550 **Role Purpose

To be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a curriculum appropriate to the age group and individual needs of the child, ensuring that children, parents and the team work together to provide high quality childcare according to CCN values and in line with Early Years Foundation Stage to meet the current aims and development plan.

Key Accountabilities

**Operational**
- To be aware and demonstrate a clear understanding of own role and areas of responsibility and to understand and comply with nursery policies and procedures.
- To support Manager and Deputy with operational needs of whole setting
- To maintain a safe adult: child ratios always.
- Identify those whose practice does not comply with organisational and legal requirements and inform manager/deputy.
- To uphold and encourage a high standard of care and education throughout the nursery.
- To maintain the company’s equal opportunities policy ensuring that children, parents, and the team are valued, and practice is positive and non-discriminatory.
- To attend and contribute to regular Heads of Room meetings, team meetings and training sessions, ensuring feedback of learning gained through training to share knowledge and improve practice.
- To report to the manager/deputy about the maintenance of the stores and equipment and assist in the requisitioning, with due economy of provisions and other supplies ensuring that minimum levels are always maintained.

**People Management**
- Be involved in new team member’s inductions, monitoring and developing the work of the team against the criteria set in their job descriptions.
- To ensure members of your team know what is expected of them and supervise their work, giving them advise, guidance and feedback as necessary.
- Support the Manager and Deputy with identification of individual training and development needs through supervision and reflective discussion.

**Child Development**
- Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver exceptional care and education and provide feedback to create a consistent approach of early years practice.
- Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children in line with our child protection and keeping everyone safe policies and procedures
- Ensure internal policies and procedures are adhered whilst also meeting the external legislation and guidelines from our governing bodies
- To work in partnership as a keyperson with parents/carers catering for all children’s individual needs.
- To maintain children’s records to a high standard and maintain confidentiality.
- To observe children through play to identify their individual needs and targeted learning/next steps and to maintain a flexible approach to the changing needs of children on a daily basis.
- To carry out and collate observations and evaluations of children’s learning and maintain children’s Learning Journeys with varied observations on Family to a high standard.
- Produce internal transition reports and a transition to school report.
- To review each practitioners’ children’s records monthly and share with the manager on a monthly cycle.
- To deliver effective planning, ensure continuous provision and free flow of learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors, which meet children’s individual needs.
- To maintain daily contact with parents through informal conversations, via Family and parent’s evenings.
- Ensure that all parents are fully informed about the nursery and their child, and that new parents are welcomed appropriately giving due regard to their concerns and questions.
- To maintain a flexible approach to the changing care needs of children on a daily basis.
