The Team

We have an exciting opportunity for a communications consultant to join our Marketing team. Reporting to the Documents Manager, the comms consultant will play a vital role in delivering initiatives designed to transform and elevate Marketing in Aegon.

The Role

To support the Communications Manager / Head of Workplace & Customer Communications in the development of channel-specific marketing communications, including;
- Planning: ensure communication activity is planned and delivered to timelines inputting into a rolling monthly delivery plan of activity
- Communications: Develop and deliver effective and compliant communications, campaigns and projects, including changes and improvements to propositions and campaigns.
- Quality: Adhere to brand standards and reflect our customer promise.
- Measure and reporting: Measure, evaluate and report on planned activities.
- Efficiency: Manage within agreed budgets, track and report effectiveness of activity, and complete invoicing and purchase processes effectively
- Governance: Adherence to Conduct Risk requirements, and meeting all regulatory and customer based responsibilities and objectives.

Key responsibilities

Deliver marketing communications projects within agreed timescales and budgets. Ensure that all communications material produced is developed and delivered in line with group risk policies ensuring appropriate business risk controls, compliance and regulatory requirements are understood and met. Customers should be provided with clear information and kept appropriately informed before, during and after point of sale.

Co-ordinate and support lead on marketing communications cross-functional delivery teams as required. Collaborate with internal and external resources (e.g. marketing agencies) to manage planned deliverables. Ensure communication of products and services marketed and sold are clear, fair and not misleading and present an accurate representation for identified consumer groups and targeted accordingly.

Copy-write and develop creative marketing communications across appropriate media to meet the needs of our internal and external customers, adhering to brand standards.

Make effective use of customer insight (e.g. FSS profiles), and understand key customer segments to deliver effectively targeted marketing communications.

Review, analyse and report back results on any delivered campaigns to all key stakeholders along with recommendations for future activity.

Ongoing maintenance of communication material that supports the overall communications strategy. This includes effective management of any print communications avoiding unnecessary costs (e g wastage, storage, transport, collation, postage costs).

**Skills**:

- Very good copywriting skills across all media, must be particularly strong in writing for digital media.
- Proven interpersonal skills to build relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in participating in teams at varying levels, including managing cross-functional teams.
- Aligning with Aegon’s Future Fit behaviours, have a proactive, initiative-led and flexible approach to work.

Knowledge
- Very good brand knowledge, including design and tone of voice.
- Very good grammar and understanding of copy writing techniques for different media, particularly digital and direct communications.
- Knowledge of the financial services industry, distributor and customer requirements and our key competitors.
- Awareness of the compliance and regulatory impacts on financial promotions.
- Awareness of legislative and regulatory issues affecting our markets.
