Commercial Motor Fleet Underwriter

**Commercial Motor Fleet Underwriter**
**Up to £60,000 per annum**

KESS Insurance Recruitment are working with a well known specialist vehicle insurer based at their offices in Essex (yet the role can be a hybrid position).
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Motor, your primary responsibility is to oversee the performance and development of the Retail Fleet accounts.
- Compile reports and provide commentary on key performance changes for the Monthly Underwriting Committee Meeting. Attend and present findings
- Attend regular underwriting review meetings with the Head of Motor/Deputy Head of Motor
- Make pricing and underwriting recommendations with supporting analysis and documentation to the Underwriting Committee to contribute to the delivery of performance and volume in line with or better than plan
- Review and advise on claims matters
- Manage and maintain a register of priorities as agreed with the Deputy Head of Motor and attend regular catch up meetings
- Support the Deputy Head of Motor with the development of Underwriting strategies, philosophies and procedures
- Develop and maintain relationships with key supporting brokers. Where agreed make face-to-face visits, ensuring continual liaison with the Deputy Head of Motor and Business Development Team
- Work with all appropriate areas to maximise the potential in niche and scheme business development
- Focus on costs, process improvements and /or efficiency to contribute to the profitability of the group
- Ensure that rates are delivered to the market regularly and accurately via Software House systems, guides and internet. Also ensure internal rating engines are correct and up to date
- Manage the Retail Fleet business, overseeing incoming new business risks and the training, guidance and development of Fleet Team. Ensure that referrals are handled by the Fleet Team up to their authority limits
- Demonstrate a wider interest and provide support for the underwriting department as a whole
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the motor market
