**What is the purpose of this job?**

To enable RDG to deliver an emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) actively led through cross functional projects and activities co-ordinated via the people strategy team.

Improve EDI balanced tangibly through managed industry EDI activities, projects and the delivery of action plans drawn from the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group (DISG).

To widen respect and recognition of data driven improvements in the EDI landscape within the member area, linked to EDI projects and initiatives,

Specifically to improve / lead and drive the Train Drivers Academy (TDA) focus, as a part of the strategic EDI pipeline delivery plan, as we strive to represent the communities we serve.

**What can I expect to do in this job?**

Lead, initiate and develop forward thinking data driven EDI activities, enabling an EDI awareness and needs driven understanding ( starting from the TDA agenda). Deep involvement within the People Strategy areas, supporting the Head of People Strategy.

**What experience, skills and knowledge do I need?**

Essential

Has proven experience of effective Leadership and management ability, enabling management of complex and varied overlapping long and short term projects and priorities

Flexible approach in response to work demands, the ability to ‘think on your feet’ with a ‘can do service centred approach’ to internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge and understanding of EDI including relevant legislation, best practice, and the methods of implementation for EDI policies and initiatives.

An effective time manager

Desirable

Experience of working in diverse arenas with high profile input from key stakeholders

Experience of using statistical analysis to drive data driven decision making
