**Band 7 Critical Care Sister/ Charge Nurse**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Neonatal Critical Care Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our outstanding Neonatal team across Nottingham Neonatal Service. As a Critical Care sister/Charge nurse in the Neonatal Service you will provide managerial, professional and clinical leadership, supporting nursing, as well as linking with other healthcare professionals throughout allied services to ensure we provide excellent care for babies and their families.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be pivotal for the dissemination and consolidation of expert neonatal critical care practice throughout the neonatal service. They will plan and organise nursing provision to support neonatal critical care and the provision of internal transportation of the sick baby; develop and implement appropriate pathways; regularly undertake clinical audits in this specialist area and use their experience to ensure the critical care team contribute to the achievement of Neonatal Service objectives. The post holder will be a member of the senior neonatal nursing team and work closely with the senior nursing team and Modern Matron as well as others within the Family health directorate when required. As a clinical expert they will promote safe and effective care to all categories of neonates.

provision of clinical leadership and management to ensure delivery of a high quality cost effective delivery of excellent neonatal critical care.

Clinical shifts - a proportion of duties will be critical care shifts to ensure a visible and accessible clinical presence in order to deliver and monitor a high quality nursing service.

Management shifts - proportion of shifts will be committed to operational management responsibilities and service improvement activities.

A proactive role-model, who is pivotal in ensuring the multi-disciplinary team all work together to achieve agreed, common goals / outcomes.

To provide leadership, advice and support to the nursing team fostering a culture which values high, quality patient care

To ensure the highest standards of care are in place and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, implement and maintain systems and processes, which ensure standards are maintained

Have responsibility in ensuring that patients and users are involved in their care. Providing visible evidence that their feedback is used to maintain standards or implement improvements that have an effect on their care.

Be able to lead and support the procurement of critical care equipment working with the MDT Team in planning, developing of training aids to support the role out and use of equipment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

There has never been a more exciting time to join our neonatal team at Nottingham as we expand our neonatal service. The expansion of the Maternity and Neonatal Redesign programme will create;
completely refurbished and expanded neonatal unit at the QMC, providing an additional 21 cots and taking the total cots at the QMC campus to 38.
