Working as part of the team the post holder will support the provision of a high quality secretarial and administrative service to Consultants and clinical teams to ensure typing of clinics is completed accurately and within set timeframes together with any other administrative duties. The post holder must be able to work on their own initiative and be able to organise their own workload within defined deadlines.

Establish and maintain admin systems and databases

Deal with incoming mail, results, reports

Deal with consultants/clinic queries

Answer and resolve inbound telephone queries from patients in a confidential manner

Typing of non clinical letters as required

The Ophthalmology Department is across two floors of the Eye, Ear Nose and Throat Centre at the QMC and provides outpatient services to 120,000 patients each year, due to the current climate the way we deliver this service is continually evolving.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
- 5 GCSE’s or equivalent C or above - must include English.
- Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria
- Proven typing and admin experience
- Demonstrates an understanding of patient / client confidentiality
- Can complete letters, forms, reports and tables using computerised technology from information collected

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
- Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information verbally gathered from both verbal and documented reports
- Friendly and professional telephone manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
