Inspire and lead the Third Party teams to achieve optimal results in claims loss ratio and customer outcomes. Support, develop and implement the Claims Strategy contributing towards the Company’s vision of being the trusted Insurance provider year after year.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Significant management accountability for staff across the Third Party teams.
- Implement targeted strategies in relation to areas of control that will improve business performance.
- Keep abreast of market changes by attending industry forums and conferences and consider the impact on Somerset Bridge Ltd, identifying where we need to adapt and change in line with business and regulatory requirements
- Responsible for demonstrating regulatory compliance across all processes and for all claims handling staff
- Identify and deliver claims initiatives that result in a reduction in indemnity spend and/or improved efficiency/better customer outcomes
- Contributes and supports change activities across the group working in conjunction with other Heads of across the group
- Manage resource budget for recruitment ensuring departments are appropriately staffed to deal with workloads
- Ensuring performance management and succession planning is in place across span of control
- Coach, mentor and develop Claims Controllers by giving them the tools, knowledge and skills to reach their full potential
- Drive and improve engagement through staff forums, meetings and quarterly presentations.
- Collaborate effectively with Claims Controllers, Head of Customer - Claims, Head of Fraud and Claims Operations Director to share best practice ideas, remove blockages and encourage innovation/contribution.
- Manage relationships with external service providers to ensure delivery of Service Levels including contract tenders, contract negotiation and on boarding

**Required Skills/Experience**:

- Excellent leadership ability
- Project management experience
- Detailed understanding of the market, the customer and relevant associated legislation.
- Proactive and flexible in approach
- Resilient and positive mind-set
- Significant experience of leading managers
- Knowledge of regulatory and industry claims handling requirements within reporting area
- In depth knowledge and expertise of Insurance practices and procedures
