Community safety involves various organisations working together with local communities to tackle persistent crime and disorder issues that are adversely affecting the quality of life of local people within the borough. Our team play a pivotal role in contributing to our residents feeling secure in their home and feeling confident whilst out in their local neighbourhood

Community safety continues to be one of the most important issues for residents living in Gateshead and you can now be part of this team.

**About the role**

You will work closely with our strategic partners, such as the Police, Probation, Primary Care Trust, Fire Service, voluntary sector and Criminal Justice organisations to promote the community safety agenda in Gateshead. You will be required to lead and co-ordinate the development of specified areas of community safety strategy and implement local solutions to address national policies and strategies

You will be responsible for the review and development of strategies/plans and to coordinate policy in relation to the community safety agenda and will therefore require experience of being able to analyse complex issues and to think creatively and strategically and also performance management.

It is essential that you hold a relevant degree or professional qualification or have an equivalent level of experience in a similar role.
