The Patient Experience Lead, will have a key role with our Trust patient experience partners, patients, families and carers, as key participants ensuring the patients voice from all communities is heard and they are at the centre of all our work.
Working closely with the Ward Managers, Matrons and Divisional Nursing Director for Children and Young People’s Services, this post supports the Trust Patient Experience Strategy.
You will be required to work in all areas of Child Health giving assurance to the Women’s and Children’s Division and Trust Board that we are consulting with our patients in a meaningful manner and are meeting requirements of Regulators, Commissioners and other Stakeholders in line with best practice.
To be responsible for facilitating and undertaking planned activities to gain children, young people and parents views and opinions on the service. Use age/development appropriate based methods of auditing the services provided within the Directorate, analysing the information to inform report writing and action planning.
To develop be responsible for a young people’s and a parents forum. This includes organising meetings, supporting and developing forum members and acting as an advocate and representative for the forum and support group. Feeding back to these groups will also be an important part of this role
You will be required to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills as part of the role.

Develop and maintain communication with people about difficult matters and/or on difficult situations
Empower children and young people and families to share their ideas and views of the quality of care within the Children and Young Peoples services at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust
You will provide monthly reports to the Children’s Team Leaders Meetings and departmental meetings on the analysis of information obtained through the consultation process and future planned activities.
To present and represent the children’s views at internal and external meetings promoting the outcomes of the patient involvement projects.
Demonstrate engagement and effective communication with a range of children and young people and families, ensuring an inclusive approach is used and all children and young people are able to have a voice.
Utilises a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with children and young people and families to gather their views on patient care.
You must communicate and co-ordinate activities/meetings with other professionals and outside agencies for example, with other staff within the Trust and with external organisations. This will include consultation events for children and young people and families within the Trust and involving/motivating other professionals to become engaging.
Keep accurate and complete records of activities and communication consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
Use of social media to engage with community and national partners in line with Information Governance agreements and social media policy.
Develop own knowledge and skills and provide information to others to help their Development
Through the Trusts appraisals process and development of a personal development plan, the post holder will identify their educational and professional needs to facilitate continued professional development.
Maintain a professional development portfolio.
To organise and deliver training to the forum members to improve their skills and confidence.
