Remote, United Kingdom Vehicles for Change (VfC) - Registered Charity Full time

**Vehicles for Change (VfC)**

**Registered Charity in England and Wales (1177568)**

**Positions**:
**1. Chair of Trustees**

**2. Trustee**

**About Vehicles for Change (VfC)**

What if home was the only place you could use a toilet or have the use of a fully accessible bathroom?

If the only place you can use a toilet is your own home, it greatly limits your mobility and independence. It would also pose a challenge if you wanted to plan activities and time away. VfC (operating under the brand RevoLOOtion) can help address this issue with our mobile units called RevoLOOs. We service all kinds of events and festivals, including sports fixtures, music festivals, concerts, etc, as well as being available for hire for private functions. Why should it be that you can't enjoy what everyone else does

The VfC Trustee Board currently consists of 6 Trustees including the Chair and is supported by a Company Secretary. Over the last year the Board has focussed on strengthening governance and strategic processes. VfC is beginning a period of growth and the focus on strategy, policy, procedures and internal structure will ensure longevity in delivering our charitable objectives procedures, UK. We are looking to enhance our Board with new Trustees and a new Chair of Trustees.

**About The Roles**

The Chair/Trustee is a voluntary position, where working alongside other Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will have the opportunity to inspire, define and maintain the Charity’s vision, mission and values, as well as develop the short and longer term strategy for the Charity.

You, along with fellow Trustees, will be responsible for ensuring compliance and accountability for finance, legal and governance obligations:

- setting strategic direction and goals,
- ensuring the charity complies with its governing document, charity law and statutory requirements,
- ensuring internal controls are fit for purpose and complied with,
- bring valuable professional or other experience to their charity,
- help to ensure that the charity is well-managed through the appointment of senior executive staff.
- Detailed Responsibilities for the VfC Chair/Trustee role is in Annex A_
- Additional Responsibilities for the Chair is in Annex B._
- Detailed person specification for both roles is in Annex C._

In return, we offer the opportunity to join a diverse and lively Board of Trustees and make a difference. We are passionate about VfC and have a keen interest in the disability community. We each bring a different set of skills to the Board and ensure that each Trustee has the opportunity to make a difference to VfC, using their personal and professional experience. We currently have a focus on Trustee training and induction to ensure depth of understanding and collaborative working. We aim to be open, honest and supportive in our dealings with each other and with the CEO and operational teams - balancing the role of critical friend with supporting collaborative working across the whole organisation. And we recognise that all Trustees are volunteers - enjoying being a Trustee, feeling confident in your role and being able to make a difference are important to us and, we hope, to you.

**Meetings**: Monthly Board meetings (online), Quarterly Committee meetings (online), one strategic planning meeting (in-person) and one team building event (in-person).

**Salary**: This is a voluntary role, although VfC will refund reasonable travel and subsistence expenses and all work-related expenses.

**Location**: Home based.

**Hours**:A minimum commitment of 12 hours per month.

**Term**: VfC Trustees serve for a term of one year; with the potential to serve for 4 terms as a maximum.

**Next Steps**

VfC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
