Should you join us in this role you will be part of our Buckinghamshire Mental Health Service. The service is designed to provide young people with expert help from a single point of access, and is part of the wider multi-disciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in association with Barnardos.
A brand new opportunity has arisen within our Outreach Service for Children and Adolescents (OSCA) for a Paediatric and Emergency Service Lead. OSCA aims to engage and support children, young people and families/ carers with complex needs by means of individualised home and community treatment packages.
The Paediatric and Emergency Service Lead is a tertiary role across Buckinghamshire primarily to support young people with the most complex needs requiring multi
- agency support. The role also includes oversight and supervision of junior colleagues within the service.
The successful applicant will also be required to participate in the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire out of hours on
- call rota and will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
Provide expert care to patients on their caseload. Providing skilled assessment, treatment, supervision and consultation within CAMHS
Focus on the development of relationships with emergency services in order to promote a better understanding of mental health and consider how we can better link to support children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis.
Assist in the management of children and young people placed on a section 136 and/ or who are frequently managed via emergency services.
Attend relevant meetings with professionals linked to emergency services, local general hospitals and Paediatric units in order to aid working relationships and share and manage risk.
Develop risk management plans, regularly review risk plans, identifying opportunities for positive risk taking in conjunction with the client, community team and client’s carers/ relatives/ significant others.
Provide expertise and specialist advice, supervision, guidance and consultation to other professionals delivering complex interventions and to contribute directly to young people’s assessment and treatment
Exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy.
