Maternity support workers are central to quality care and information provision working alongside midwives and the wider professional teams to achieve excellence in maternity care. We are seeking experienced Care Workers who are enthusiastic, hard-working, flexible individuals to assist us to provide the best care at all times. To be eligible for this role, an OUH Care Certificate or equivalent must have been completed previously and some experience of working in Social/Health Care.

We are happy to consider part-time/full-time applicants,. We do not offer term time only contracts at present. This role is based on the Delivery Suite, in the Womens Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

**Please note**: This role is mainly Monday - Friday with the occasional weekend or Bank Holiday shift (which includes enhancements as per AfC). Shifts are generally 12.5 hours from 0730-2000. We are happy to discuss Flexible Working options at interview. This role is not eligible for overseas sponsorship.

As a member of the maternity elective caesarean team you will support and closely work with the elective caesarean midwives to deliver a high standard of care to women in a caring and safe environment. To work as part of the wider team in developing and maintaining services provided to women and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical area. To maintain the dignity and privacy of all women and respect their right to confidentiality.

Here in Oxfordshire, we offer women and healthcare professionals a unique set up of our Maternity Services where around 7200 babies are born annually. We truly believe that supporting our staff to feel happy and well-supported within their work environment, will ensure the best quality of care for the birthing people who access our services. For those working with us, we have a named Maternity Psychologist 3 days a week to support all staff, as well as a ever-expanding team of Professional Midwifery Advocates to provide pastoral support. For those wishing to develop their careers and skills, we have a core Practice Development Team who can guide staff with their career options and development opportunities. We strive to ensure every member of our team feels valued and to have the confidence to speak up and be heard.

To assist women with their personal care needs, maintaining privacy and dignity

Prepare the environment for clinical activities, supporting women and their families and making ready specific equipment as necessary.

To assess and monitor the woman’s skin integrity and to report and document immediately any changes or concerns in their condition.

Recognise when a woman’s condition changes and seek advice and expertise from registered practitioners in accordance with Trust policy.

Provide evidence-based advice and support in relation to Infant Feeding and with support from the midwife be able to put a feeding plan in place if necessary. To also support the woman with her feeding choice in a theatre setting.

To support the women, should she wish, to undertake skin to skin in theatre.

To help get women ready for theatre including gown and TEDS

To support getting partner ready for theatre
