We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an inclusive team helping the Trust meet its obligations under data protection legislation.

This is a varied role and the post holder will be organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to re-prioritise as necessary. Working within a small team, this role is ideal for someone looking to develop their career in Information Governance

The Information Governance and Records Team provides expert advice and assurance to ensure the Trusts IG function is monitored and managed to the highest standards of best practice and in accordance with our statutory and legislative requirements

We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.

Information Governance
- Provide support in all areas of the IG agenda to proactively assist the organisation in making progress towards the Data Security and Protection Toolkit targets
- To provide and review performance statistics and information on a regular basis, and provide statistical data for reports as required by the Head of Information Governance & Records Management
- Ensure that all data processed within Information Governance (and in particular that processed within the information and performance management systems) is accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose and complies with the organisation’s policies.
- To provide practical support to the Head of Information Governance & Records Management in the execution of their defined duties
- To identify and implement service improvements with the agreement of the Head of Information Governance & Records Management
- To maintain information systems, including computerised information Systems used within the IG Department
- Produce policies, procedures, checklists and draft reports relating to IG matters
- The ability to interpret complex, confidential and sensitive information and communicate that information effectively to members of staff, patients, the public, large groups of staff and formal committees
- To work as a specialist member of the Information Governance team in supporting the development and implementation of Trust wide policies and procedures around Information Governance, in line with the requirements of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
- To work to achieve the objectives of the Information Governance work programmes through own initiative, with guidance sought from the Head of Information Governance & Records Management when necessary.
- To provide information and recommendations to the Head of Information Governance & Records Management to enable the accurate completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
- Using root cause analysis (RCA) methodology undertake the role of Incident Investigator for IG Incidents as required
- To responsible for the co-ordination of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit workplan and submission.
- To ensure Data Privacy Impact Assessments are carried out in the Trust by delivering professional advice and guidance. Also, to quality assure completed assessments, provide feedback and support until the assessment is completed.

Confidentiality and Data Protection Assurance
- Receive and respond to queries relating to IG issues. This will include initiating research, where necessary, of complex material and requires an excellent understanding of current legal requirements and NHS regulations.
- To answer queries relating to the legal requirements in respect of information and personal data, referring more complex queries to the Head of Information Governance & Health Records
- To maintain awareness of evolving legislation, national guidance and effective practice relating to IG
- Contribute to organisational compliance with legal requirements in respect
