Production Team Leader

**PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER - PAINT DEPARTMENT**
Distinction Doors is the UK’s leading composite door supplier offering bespoke, premium doors with an extensive colour palette to create wonderful entrances to people’s homes.
We have an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Production Team within the Paint department. The role will be based on our PM shift which is 2:00pm - 10:00pm, at our site in Tankersley on a full-time basis (37.5 hours), Monday to Friday.
**The Role**
Reporting to the Production Manager, the role will be responsible for leading and managing the Paint Operatives, handling all people related processes, and ensuring a high standard of quality, and productivity, whilst driving a culture of safety. You will ensure your team objectives are met with focus on OTIF (On Time in Full), Quality, Customer Service, and Right First Time to ensure we delight our customer, exceed our productivity levels, and continue to drive improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- To take ownership for the team and to direct and lead them in the day-to-day operational duties.
- To be the link between the team and Production Manager.
- Control and monitor staffing levels in the department considering holidays, and general absence to ensure cost effective achievement of operational standards.
- Communicate with team members individually through routine one-to-one meetings, and team briefings to ensure clear communication takes place.
- Produce and maintain KPI data for the department.
- Assist the Production Manager in the hiring process for the department and supporting the growth and development of the team.
- Implement Business Improvement Techniques.
- Coach and train team members and trainees (temp to perm staff) on the SOPs for the department as part of ongoing development and onboarding.
- Ensure the team produce quality product as per specification and promote right first-time approach.
- Ensure the team adhere to company policies and procedures and take appropriate action when required.
- Work closely with the HR team, and ensure all people related duties are completed in a timely manner, including return to works meetings and probation reviews.
- Take ownership of performance management for your team, including any performance related issues, such as time keeping, absence, and poor performance.
- Identify problems, and provide solutions, acting quickly and proactively and reporting any major issues to the Production Manager.
- Work closely with other teams and internal customers to ensure continuity of customer service.
- Drive performance and productivity of the team, ensuring all deadlines and KPIs are achieved.
- Champion a culture that strives for excellence, focusing on safety, quality, and engagement.
- Lead and participate in daily meetings to report on your team’s performance and productivity.
- Act as deputy for the Production Manager as and when required.

**Education and Knowledge**
- A strong understanding of the manufacturing industry, ideally within fenestration.
- The ability to demonstrate good people management skills.
- At least one years’ experience working within a team leader, supervisory, or management role (**desirable**).
- Level 3 Leadership & Management qualification, or working towards, or equivalent (**desirable)**
**The Benefits**
- Competitive salary between £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (plus 10% shift allowance for the PM shift).
