**The Income Team Leader role**:
***We have an exciting opportunity for an** Income Team Leader** to join our Income and Leasehold team

As part of this role, you’ll lead and motivate a team of Income Officers and Assistants ensuring procedures are robust and efficient, tasks are planned, and prioritised and team members are able to achieve their potential and meet performance targets.

**Key duties and responsibilities of our Income Team Leader**:

- Be responsible for the line management of Income Officers and Income Assistants, providing coaching and guidance to ensure they develop their skill set for the role and responsibilities and achieve their full potential.
- Promote a rent first culture and ensure the team are proactive in arrears prevention by engaging with tenants, initiating early interventions and identifying support needs.
- Ensure that arrears actions are timely, appropriate and proportionate, providing information and making recommendations where necessary to ensure the continual improvement of income recovery, for the needs of the organisation and customers.
- Maintain operational oversight of managing accounts in serious rent arrears and be a key decision maker for the escalation of legal proceedings.
- Have an awareness and understanding of the court’s procedures and protocols in possession hearings in order to represent the organisation at court in the absence of the Income Officer.
- Take the lead on preparing reports in relation to serious case reviews, itemising the involvement of the rents team.
- Review and determine outcomes in relation to notice of possession appeals and present evidence at introductory tenancy review panels.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including, the DWP in respect of Universal Credit issues and the Housing Benefit department on complex Housing Benefit matters.
- Developing and maintaining strong cohesive working relationships with other internal service providers such as Housing Management, Lettings, Tenants First etc. to ensure outcomes for customers and the organisation.

**What we’re looking for in our Income Team Leader**:

- Chartered Institute of Housing Level 5 or equivalent qualification
- Ability to provide strong leadership and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Relevant experience of working in an income management service and successfully driving performance to meet key corporate performance targets.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to look for opportunities and solutions in a changing environment.
- Evidence of promoting a continuous learning culture including mentoring and coaching individuals to help them develop their skills and achieve their full potential.
- Strong operational skills in managing resources, prioritising tasks to meet strict deadlines and delegating appropriately in order to meet key performance targets.
