Purpose and Scope
As the Head of Operational Security, you will lead the operational delivery of physical and building
security in GPA managed buildings and provide a safe and secure service to our clients. You will be part
of the Workplace Services Senior Leadership Team and member of the GPA Security SLT and will be
responsible for the assurance of physical security across the GPA managed estate.
The Head of Operational Security will:
- Ensure that the GPA successfully discharges its operational security obligations for clients and occupiers.
- Design and deploy an agreed plan to support the successful delivery of security services across the GPA estate.
- Accountable for the performance of suppliers who provide physical security services to the GPA managed estates and ensuring they have appropriate and up to date security policies, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans in place.
- Actively collaborate with the GPA Chief Security Officer, DD Workplace Service Delivery and the wider GPA Directorates to ensure business as usual activities support overall security strategic goals and policies.

- Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on the physical security assurance activity for the GPA estate, working closely with the GSCPP and other suppliers to agree and deliver a pipeline of assurance activities.
- Working closely with clients and suppliers, lead on advice and recommendations regarding operational security matters including coordinating the response to physical security incident management-including the timely provision of incident reports and threat mitigation.
- Working with security colleagues, actively mature the Workplace Services security offering
- leading on the development of management information on assurance activity and incidents
- and using data to demonstrate continuous and sustainable improvements to our clients and ExCo.
- Work closely with internal and external parties to ensure that GPA physical security assurance work is placed on a sustainable footing, supported by an agreed MOU and SLA’s
- and to work with security function colleagues to illuminate challenges and propose solutions to the evolving operating model.
- Contribute to the development of the GPA FM Strategy where relevant. Accountable for leading within supplier partner teams on the design of their account security strategies, ensuring they are aligned to the GPA core objectives and those of workplace services delivery.
- Provision of specialist security advice to GPA colleagues where appropriate.
- Provide professional and expert practical advice to clients and occupiers regarding all physical security vulnerabilities identified and as part of the assurance process, and ensure these are documented and effective corrective action taken to mitigate or repair the security vulnerability.
