This is a critical hire within a large media agency to help drive thought leadership and realise the commercial potential they see in the market to develop a comprehensive marketplaces proposition.

There has been considerable growth in e-retail and marketplace activity over the last few years. Retail is becoming digitised at an incredible pace, not just in terms of the consumer experience with all the innovative ways we have to connect digital interactions to points of retail. But also in the ways that retailers and marketplaces interact with brands - they see a growing number of marketplaces and retailers establishing self serve media propositions and you can see the direction of travel, one day all media will be biddable, retailers and marketplaces will offer brands API’s and supplier dashboards to monitor performance.

However in today’s world conventional creative and media agencies always had a natural starting point, they will buy on-site media or develop creative assets. All while Amazon continues to expand it’s proposition at a phenomenal rate across brand, content, cloud services, physical retail and the list goes on. Clients are understandably confused and there are few business that can offer genuinely end to end support.

They don’t believe anybody in the market has genuinely cracked this. Specialist Amazon retail agencies don’t buy broader media for brands Digital Shelf providers don’t make content. Management consultants don’t activate marketing. Brand agencies don’t do performance media and vice versa - the list goes on. They want to build a genuine end to end market leading marketplace offering. Note this is not role that is purely focussed on Amazon but this has to be the start or the blueprint for other retailers and marketplaces.

**Responsibilities**:

- Own the commerce relationship with Amazon and other key consumer and B2B marketplaces.
- Accelerate and own capability around the ‘retail’ component of both the marketplace and overall commerce offering.
- Organise the necessary assets and partnerships to define and deliver a more commercially focussed proposition (beyond media). -Lead a virtual team to establish a genuine E2E marketplace offering (media / retail / creative / analytics).
- Build a series of marketplace solutions (using Amazon as a blueprint) that can be easily be understood, scaled and monetised. -Establish a clear operating model across the entire business to support marketplace planning and activation (inc off shore resource) -Educate the businesss around the ecosystem opportunities across Amazon (and other marketplaces) beyond performance media. -Elevate the marketplace proposition and develop a POV and long term strategy for growth (investment, partnership, acquisitions) -Collaborate with relevant product teams to determine relevant integration of existing products (Profitero, econtent suite + Citrus Ad)
- Responsible for growth plan which includes both existing clients and new clients (not necessarily attached to existing agency scope)

**Experience**:

- 10+ years’ experience of managing commerce activity for a brand, retailer or agency.
- Direct experience of working in a commercially focussed role within a marketplace or e-retail context.
- Deep knowledge of both the marketing and commercial levers of driving growth across indirect retail channels. - Direct experience of negotiating commercial terms between a brand a retailer would be a real bonus.
- Experience of working within a large agency network across multiple markets would also be a bonus.
