Fair Access are recruiting 2 x full time (37 hours a week, Term Time Only) Wellbeing Support Officers due to expansion of the service. Education Programme Wellbeing Support Officers provide one to one delivery of sessions as part of an education package to children and young people (CYP) in a variety of localities throughout Kent.

The Education Programme is an interim service providing bespoke tuition packages to children and young people (CYP) in Key Stages 1-4. These CYP are without a school place due to exclusions; or will have Special Educational Needs (SEND) and an EHC Plan, who are awaiting a place at a named specialist provision. The vulnerable learners accessing the programme require one to one support in preparation for the identified onward education provision.

Whilst you will be contractually based in Maidstone, you will be required to provide sessions in a variety of locations across the whole of Kent. The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day in accordance with the needs of the job.

The wellbeing and inclusivity of our cohort is integral to the delivery of the service. The whole team focus is on delivering child centred educational and well-being activities whilst supporting and improving educational outcomes.You will plan and deliver personalised, relevant and wellbeing focussed activities with pupils within an agreed individualised programme and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified tutor. The individualised programme offered to a CYP may comprise of 1:1 face-to-face sessions, online live 1:1 sessions delivered using Microsoft Teams or a Blended offer using a combination of these methods.

You will be a passionate individual, experienced in delivering positive outcomes, who can support children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Underpinning the work of the Wellbeing Support Officer is enabling the CYP to understand and regulate their behaviours and emotions, building resilience and self-confidence, and supporting with a toolkit of strategies which will better equip them to access the curriculum.

You will require excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage challenging situations, and the ability to communicate clearly and successfully both verbally and on written records and reports.

The Education Programme maintains a CPD programme for the whole team, including regular training on high incidence SEND.
