We are looking for a GP to work one day per week (0.2 WTE), on a fixed term contract for 3 years, to help us develop an integrated medicines optimisation programme, alongside the incoming Director of Medicines Optimisation (a newly created role).

We have a track record of "Can Do Health and Care" and have created these new posts to actively find people to build on the great work being delivered and bring new ideas and different ways of achieving the best for our patients.

Main responsibilities:

- Create and maintain communities of practice amongst relevant health and care professionals.
- Leadership within the Medicines Optimisation teams in the ICB to deliver excellent performance outcomes.
- Leadership within the Medicines Optimisation teams in the ICB on development of relevant strategy, clinical pathways and policy.
- Leadership of relevant research and innovation.
- Contribute to the leadership and delivery of the ICB objectives.
- Personal development to increase effectiveness and set or maintain career trajectory.
- Chair the Integrated Medicines Optimisation Committee Meetings.
- Provide clinical input to the Clinical Reference Group through regular attendance.
- Support the Alliance-based Medicines Optimisation teams with engaging practices across the ICB with the CIP projects and management of their prescribing costs.
- Provide clinical input to relevant Medicine Optimisation led committees e.g. Medicines Safety Collaborative and Antimicrobial Stewardship.

Qualifications:

- Currently listed without restriction with the General Medical Council (GMC) on the GP register.

**Experience**:

- Currently working at a senior level as an NHS General Practitioner (GP).
- Leading and implementing change to improve cost-effective and high-quality prescribing within a practice.
- Managing the day to day running of a health or care professional team, providing strong local leadership and developing leadership capacity within the team members. Ideally experience would include working across organisational boundaries.
- Managing sensitive situations with patients, families, or carers and/or with wider advocating agencies.
- Effective partnership working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing mentorship and professional development through leadership with demonstrable outcomes.
- Leading and delivering change and strategy development across organisational boundaries in a politically sensitive and complex environment.
- Developing and maintaining a safety culture.
- Knowledge:

- Advanced knowledge of the local and national prescribing challenges facing primary and secondary care teams
- Understanding of national patient safety alerts and the local implementation.
- Health, care, local government and VCFSE landscape.
- Social determinants of health.
- Current evidence and thinking on practices which reduce health inequality, improve patient access, safety and ensure organisations are well led.
- Regulatory matters, including a working knowledge of CQC inspections and the role of NHS England.
- Health and care financial planning and budgeting at a directorate or departmental level.
- Leadership knowledge acquired through training, plus further knowledge in area of practice.
