**JOB CONTEXT**:
The Food Newcastle Partnership (FNP) is a network of local public agencies, businesses, academics, NGOs and individuals, who recognise the key role food can play in dealing with some of today’s most pressing social, economic and environmental challenges. FNP is part of the Sustainable Food Places network and supports the development of a sustainable food approach and contributing to a national Good Food Movement.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
The Coordinator’s role is focused on engaging with stakeholders to help grow the joint vision for Newcastle and turn the Newcastle Good Food Plan into reality.

The Coordinator will deliver the continued development and purpose of the Food Newcastle partnership by supporting the design, development and delivery of effective food policies and strategies for Newcastle and ensuring a strategic and effective response to food insecurity is in place

Central to the Coordinator role will be to continue to build the existing food-centred partnership and coordinate a bid for Sustainable Food Places Silver award status.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

General responsibility to coordinate the continued development and delivery of the city’s strategic sustainable food action plan; the Newcastle Good Food Plan.
- Convene stakeholder events to enable and facilitate engagement and networking opportunities, build public awareness, promote food citizenship and a good food movement.
- Ensure the Newcastle Good Food Plan is delivered across all of the 6 themes by encouraging regular and planned active participation from local partners and sectors.
- Develop a communications and marketing strategy to promote and extend the reach of Food Newcastle through effective press, broadcasts, and social media.
- Coordinate the recruitment of new signatories to the Newcastle Food Charter and oversee on-going engagement with all existing signatories
- Work with the Food Newcastle Partnership Group to identify and pursue opportunities for securing additional funds
- Coordinate the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework that records the work of the wider partnership.
- Coordinate partnership wide networking events locally and collaborate with partners to support regional and national events.
- Take responsibility for the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Food Newcastle ensuring all contractual outputs and outcomes are met.

**General**

To comply with all Newcastle West End Foodbank policies and procedures and ensure all performance and quality monitoring information and data is accurate and completed and submitted electronically and within the agreed timescales. Provide six monthly returns, produce an annual report, and attend six monthly performance monitoring meetings. These are minimum requirements for the job role and are not an exhaustive list of duties. Undertake other duties as required from time to time that are in keeping with fulfilment of the job role.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

The postholder will have a big picture approach and be able to identify opportunities for the development of the Food Newcastle programme both locally and nationally.

They will be committed to the principles of Food Newcastle and the Sustainable Food Places network and be enthusiastic about its aims and values.

**Essential Skills**
- Proven and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of working at a high level of professionalism and the facilitation of committees
- Is well organised and a self-starter and an ability to prioritise tasks and coordinate events
- Ability to work independently and coordinate NFP and its 6 thematic working groups
- Capacity to build and sustain working relationships with partners both locally and nationally
- Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly, verbal and written
- Demonstrable project coordination, organisational and administrative skills.
- Competent in the use of IT systems and social media skills
- Competent in marketing methods to effectively promote the work.
- Experience of web design and maintenance.
- An ability to inspire people into action

**Desirable**
- Experience of Work in the voluntary and community sector as a staff member or volunteer
- Use of contact databases or information management systems
- Previous experience carrying out finance tasks
- Experience of data analysis, preparing detailed reports and writing executive briefing papers
- Availability to travel will be required on a local and regional level, with occasional national travel. A driving licence would be an advantage
