The Role

We are looking sommeone to support the delivery, implementation, and evaluation of student mobility programmes. You will join a team dedicated to delivering a range of global opportunities and supporting senior International Office (IO) staff and academic Global and Education Deans in the development and implementation of a key initiative of the University’s Global Strategy: Global Education and Community (GE&C).

The Global Education and Community plan recognises not just Newcastle’s positive contribution to the wider world, but also how that wider world, in its complexity, informs our teaching and learning. Global education means understanding that there are different ways of knowing and living in the world. It means openness to difference, being critical and questioning about global norms, and awareness of global inequalities.

Your role will have a particular focus on the coordination of our short-term and summer student mobility programmes, including our flagship International Coalition of Sites of Conscience Internship programme. You will provide support and guidance to staff in academic units and partner organisations regarding the operation of the University’s systems and arrangements to support international mobility, including managing the development of international student exchange agreements. You will support the work of the wider Global Opportunities team, including student promotion, communications and advising. Your role will be varied and complex and you will be required to operate flexibly across multiple projects.

The Global Opportunities (GO) Team is one of four constituent teams in the University’s International Office. The GO team develops and manages the frameworks and administration of the University’s global programmes, with the aim to equip our students and staff with the skills to succeed as critical global citizens.

Key Accountabilities
Develop and maintain effective administrative processes for the full student mobility journey for our short programmes, including the coordination of grant payments
Work with colleagues in our International Partnerships and Relations team to coordinate the promotion, delivery, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of our flagship International Coalition of Conscience Internship scheme
Coordinate the promotion and communication of our short programmes to ensure high participation rates across our diverse student population
Produce digital communications such as newsletters, webpages, brochures, and other online resources to promote our portfolio of global opportunities
Work with GO colleagues to promote the full range of global opportunities through the organisation, coordination and delivery of our GO Global Fair, information sessions and other events
Develop and maintain effective processes for maintaining accurate electronic student records to support mobility management and reporting
Support the design and implementation of a coordinated mobility feedback and evaluation system
Work with colleagues to coordinate effective pre-departure support and training for students taking part in our short programmes
Work with University colleagues to understand and develop tailored provision for under-represented student groups in line with our APP commitments
Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, development, and supervision of our Global Ambassador team
Develop and maintain key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a consistent and efficient service and to ensure the successful promotion and delivery of global opportunities
Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop, renew and maintain our international student exchange agreements
Act as Secretary for the University Student Mobility Sub-Committee; supporting agenda setting, minuting, and following up on actions
Contribute ideas and suggestions for improvements to processes and procedures at team meetings and attending working groups, training courses and national/ international conferences as required
Support other areas within the Global Opportunities team, as and when required
