**The Vacancy**:
The role is in the Local Government Shared Services Appeals and Quality Group reporting to a team manager within that function.
- We’re looking for someone that has demonstrable experience in making revenues and/or benefit assessments so that they have the level of technical expertise to identify if any errors have been made in cases being checked.
- You will be checking the work of assessment officers, so need to be able to confidently understand the actions they have taken by reviewing the documents and systems input/output that occurred on the case.
- Ideally you will have been an officer working at a minimum level of Level 2 benefits/revenues transactional assessment work.
- We need someone that can demonstrate pragmatism in their approach; is able to communicate clearly and effectively; is able to effectively use KHUB and other reference material so that they make consistent, logical and easy to understand decisions, backed up by solid reference points that will signpost reasons for errors and help to prevent them from reoccurring.
- We need someone that can is familiar with revenues and/or benefit procedures; understands and is familiar with the legislative framework that governs decision making in these areas, and appreciates that decision making needs to be formed by evidence and information.
- We need someone that is able to address situations, where there may be opposing views, with equal merit and use logical reasoning to determine an answer. You are able to make confident, consistent decisions and clearly explain the reasoning behind them.
- We need someone that can recognise and accept where they have made an error, and use that as a learning opportunity.
- We need someone who genuinely wants to use the role in AQ role as a platform for their own development, and to help other achieve their performance targets.
- We want someone that wants to take on challenging work; will get a sense of pride in a job well done; can lift their head after adversity or disappointment, and who wants to work in a team of dedicated individuals at the front line of Revenues and Benefits technical support.
**Key tasks and responsibilities**:
- To perform quality checks on a range on benefit decisions across all accounts, locations and work types, including Capacity Grid account work, where required.
- To quality check overpayments and ensure that the calculation and classification is correct for subsidy and accuracy
- To provide remote support to benefit employees via Query Log requests, where required
- To respond to disputes or requests for reconsideration, where required
- To accurately input the outcomes of your reviews and checks, and make superseding or revising decisions on the relevant benefit back office system
- To deliver remote and on-site training (where applicable)
