Gloucester Road Medical Centre is a large, friendly GP Practice just off the Gloucester Road (A38) in North Bristol. The surgery is purpose-built, close to local amenities, with onsite parking and bus services nearby. Shower facilities and a bike shed are also available for staff with a keen interest in exercise

We pride ourselves in offering a high standard of customer service to our patients; offering a large range of in-house health services and close working relationships with community services to suit our patient needs.

We are advertising for Patient Navigators to support our wonderful patients and staff. Working hours are currently negotiable with opportunities for full and part-time hours from 8am-7pm Monday to Friday and occasional half-days on a Saturday.

In return we are offering salaries starting from £9.50 per hour (depending on experience) a welcoming and vibrant working environment, training opportunities and a great team of colleagues focused whole heartedly on patient care.

**Job description**

To deal with patient, doctor and colleague requests, make appointments, take messages and perform clerical tasks involving computer input / output and general filing.

To provide administrative and medical clerical support to the Practice Team in a courteous, efficient and effective way and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

The post holder will be required to use the computerised patient medical record system EMISweb software for most medical clerical work and Microsoft Word and Excel where required.

Use of the practice intranet and database management system as well as the internet are key components of this administrative role.

The post holder should have a good working knowledge of using computers and software packages and a basic understanding of medical terms.

**Qualifications /Skills**

Computer Literate Good standard of written and spoken English.

ECDL or other IT qualification.

Trained in the use of Clinical systems used in General Practice and Microsoft packages. NVQ in Customer Care

Qualification in English

**Experience - desirable**

Currently working in an office/administrative environment.

Currently working in NHS, General Practice or hospital.

Currently working in a service industry. Knowledge

Understanding of key areas of the Receptionists role.

Customer Care and ability to provide a patient-focussed, quality service.

Understanding of filing systems. and software.

Awareness of Hospital medical specialties and interface between primary and secondary care.

Awareness of Health and Safety regulations. Skills Excellent communication and listening skills.

**Experience - required**

Approachable, friendly, helpful and polite in dealing with patients on the telephone and face-to-face. High standard of spelling and grammar.

Clear handwriting Qualities/Attributes Ability to show empathy and understanding.

Able to demonstrate enthusiasm to developing role. An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense.

Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team. Able to work under pressure.

Pleasant and articulate.

Able to work in a changing environment.

Well organised.
