We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team. Working 1 day a week on a fixed term contract for 6 months. As a Band 7 specialist you will provide highly specialist and highly skilled Speech and Language Therapy assessments and intervention for children and young people who have dysphagia who have a range of needs including complex disability, children under 1 year of age and those with Tracheotomy. This includes therapy in education settings, patient’s own homes, clinics and the wider community.
You will take a clinical and operational lead in the development and delivery of an effective Speech and Language Therapy service for children, young people and families of children with Dysphagia, with an emphasis on
partnership working and integration.

The role will require you to accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients of children who have dysphagia and be
professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your work including prioritising work.
You will provide highly specialist and comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy assessment for children / young people with dysphagia referred to the Service, for a range of clinical presentations within scope of
competence. This will involve gathering, interpreting and evaluating highly complex information from a variety of sources, using evidence-based therapy outcome measures and analysing the child/young person’s
needs using skilled problem-solving approaches.
Provide line management and clinical leadership as appropriate and
maintain links with tertiary services. We will require you to also hold an area of professional responsibility for children’s Dysphagia countywide and will be instrumental in managing projects and leading pathways and programmes of work to enable effective delivery of this service whilst ensuring it is evidence based and consistently implemented countywide.
