Prudential Policy Directorate are responsible for designing, negotiating internationally and implementing effective prudential regulation in order to remove or reduce systemic risks, promote the safety and soundness of PRA-regulated firms and ensure appropriate protection for insurance policyholders. PPD supports both the Prudential Regulation Committee and Financial Policy Committee in fulfilling their objectives.

**Department Overview**

The **Strategy and Policy Approach Division** (SPAD) is one of 5 divisions in PPD.

SPAD sets the overall strategy and approach for prudential policymaking in line with our vision for strong, accountable, dynamic and accessible regulation. The division also supports PPD on the identification, selection and delivery of policy priorities. Responsibilities include ensuring a credible future regulatory framework, re-designing the policymaking approach under that framework, ensuring policy is appropriately grounded in economic analysis, and making progress on a clear and coherent UK PRA rulebook. The division also covers horizon scanning for microprudential risks, as well as PPD’s broader international strategy and co-ordination. Within SPAD, we take a collaborative and flexible approach to resourcing our work, and there are opportunities to work across teams.

**Job description**

SPAD is recruiting for 2 Policy Adviser roles for the Future Regulatory Framework team and the Policy Vision & Approach team. These are both people management roles. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. You will also be responsible for managing all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.

**Future Regulatory Framework role**

As part of the SPAD, the Future Regulatory Framework (FRF) team, leads within the Bank on negotiating and coordinating the implementation of the new framework. The team is also responsible for working with the government to ensure a smooth transfer of rules from on-shored retained EU legislation to regulator rulebooks, enabling a responsive and tailored approach to regulator rulemaking. Finally, the team owns the PRA’s strategy for the design and structure of the rulebook, delivering the PRA’s vision to become an accessible and accountable policymaker.

This is a policy development, project delivery and people management role. You will be responsible for setting direction and priorities and the day to day management of a project team. As well as the people management responsibilities, you will provide policy advice. The work will be exciting and high-impact, and there will be opportunities to present to the PRA senior management.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Setting direction and priorities for a project team.
- Developing and getting agreement on policy approaches and frameworks.
- Leading on the drafting and presentation of senior committee documents and public communications
- Building relationships and working effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertaking policy analysis, communicating results and recommendations in a clear way

**Policy Vision and Approach role**

The Policy Vision and Approach team is responsible for designing and implementing the PRA’s approach to policymaking. The team has three core responsibilities:

- Policy prioritisation and risk identification - including through leading strategic discussions internally on the PRA’s policy priorities, and horizon scanning for policy risks and opportunities.
- Developing the PRA’s internal approach to policymaking - providing policymakers with sufficient guidance on the policymaking process, including under the FRF.
- Explaining the PRA’s approach to policy externally - including through policy documents, reporting and supporting seniors on speeches.
