Band 7 - Clinical Effectiveness Lead - Patient Safety

Are you passionate about supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe care? We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and dynamic people to join our team at the Scottish Ambulance Service, to support the delivery of effective patient safety processes and enable continuous improvement. In this role you will assist in managing and reviewing adverse clinical incidents involving the ambulance service, analysing information to understand what happened, identifying areas of good practice and areas for improvement, focusing on a systems-based approach that supports organisational learning. You will be responsible for drafting good quality written reports, recommendations and action plans. You will support the development of effective systems for monitoring performance and ensuring compliance with timely review and achievement of our organisational objectives. An eye for detail and interest in reviewing data, clinical information and associated reporting systems is essential.

The Scottish Ambulance Service is committed to delivering high-quality, safe care, and we are in the process of further strengthening our governance structure with the development of a dedicated Patient Safety Team. This role is a key part of this team and will be supported by an experienced manager and a friendly and helpful team that will enable professional development in a supportive environment. Our aim is to recruit individuals with a range of skills and experience to help us achieve positive outcomes for our patients, their families, our staff and for the organisation. Post holders will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and organisations, including directly with our staff, patients and families, territorial Health Boards, Social Care providers, Police Scotland and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. You will work closely with the Patient Safety Manager as part of the wider Medical Directorate and have a crucial role in delivering improved patient safety and experience for people across Scotland. You will be expected to represent SAS at external meetings and events, and may also be asked to present at meetings, forums and staff engagement sessions.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have the drive and ambition to deliver meaningful change as SAS works to achieve full compliance with adverse events processes and to drive continuous improvement and high-quality, safe, person-centred care.
