Band A Policy Advisors are responsible for setting priorities, agreeing targets and allocating responsibilities to their team. They are accountable for outcomes in their policy area and develop deep specialisms on key aspects of their policy or sector, and take on highly complex work. In addition, they are expected to devise new means of managing and implementing policy, and use strong influencing skills to broker solutions across organisational boundaries.

**Job description**:
Responsibilities and tasks

**Team lead, Advertising**
- This is an exciting role leading the policy development of legislative proposals to reform advertising regulation as part of DCMS’s Online Advertising Programme, and a package of non-legislative action, including a Ministerial taskforce. This is a high profile area with keen Ministerial interest, where there is a need to protect consumers from issues such as online fraud and negative body image stereotypes in advertising, and to bring big tech responsible for the dissemination of advertising into regulation for the first time.
- The post-holder will work across government, with regulators and with stakeholders to deliver reforms, as well as influence interrelated policy on behalf of the advertising sector. The work includes ensuring timely delivery of a government consultation on a legislative and non-legislative package.
- The post-holder will manage a high-performing team to deliver an ambitious agenda and contribute to the leadership of the wider advertising team.

**Head of Future of BBC policy**
- This is an exciting role leading on policy issues around the future of the BBC as DCMS prepares for Charter Review, which will consider the roles and responsibilities of the BBC into the next decade.
- The post-holder will work closely with the Head of BBC Funding and the Head of BBC Governance and Regulation as we progress priority projects on the BBC Mid-Term Charter Review and look at the future of the Licence Fee - the post-holder is likely to have lead responsibility for policy areas relating to the future of the Licence Fee.
- The post-holder will play an active leadership role working with three other Band As in managing the ongoing BBC policy agenda, including large volumes of Parliamentary and other public-facing work, requiring ongoing engagement with Ministers.

**Head of Creative Industries projects**
- This role is an exciting opportunity to deliver policy in the creative industries, one of the fastest growing sectors of the UK’s economy, one of the Government’s five priority growth sectors and the DCMS Secretary of State priority.
- This is a high-profile and dynamic role where you will be working closely with the centre of the Department, HMT, and other departments to deliver the Secretary of State’s key priorities for the sector.
- The post-holder will lead on major cross-cutting creative industries projects including on the impact of AI in the CIs (with the Royal Anniversary Trust), on levelling-up and regional support (through e.g. our £26m Create Growth Programme), and tax reform to support the sector’s long-term growth.
