The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and Senior Resuscitation Practitioner to lead the Acute Clinical Management Department (ACM) in developing safety strategies that ensure patient/participant safety, aligning with phase one regulatory compliance for clinical trials. This role involves being a catalyst for organisational transformation, offering guidance, co-ordination and promoting service change to develop and implement clinical emergency safety strategies.

This role encompasses managing a multidisciplinary team at times, serving as a clinical emergency educational and clinical supervisor, and actively engaging in relevant research and educational activities. Collaboration with clinical, academic, scientific groups and directorates, is vital to oversee all aspects of clinical emergency safety and safety operations within the company. This includes providing clinical and telemetry safety cover and emergency based clinical skills training, to ensure clinical staff meet ALS/ILS (RCUK) emergency safety standards to fulfil phase one accreditation criteria.

The Senior Resuscitation Practitioner is responsible for managing the activities and the development of the Resuscitation Practitioners, overseeing compliance with clinical governing bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Lead the Acute Clinical Management Department (ACM) to develop safety strategies for ensuring patient/participant safety and phase one regulatory compliance for clinical trials.
- Set up and develop commercial opportunities for growth within the ACM department, this would include providing appropriate training and mentorship, whilst managing the activities of the ACM department.
- Develop a clinical emergency assessments approach that engages and retains our clinicians through internal and external development.
- Manage safety cover swipes and oversee investigation of safety cover gaps.
- Collaborate with senior internal and external stakeholders for off-site clinical emergency risk assessment of study patient/participants in multi-site studies, when needed.
- Ensure timely and thorough medical review of individual case clinical emergency safety reports.
- Ensure collaboration with Quality Assurance, L&D & Operational Excellence to ensure team is up to date with the regulations and best practises to ensure the department can operate to its maximum efficiency.

Education
- Chair periodic meetings with Research Physicians and Resuscitation Practitioners for educational support.
- Maintain current professional knowledge and expertise in the field of clinical emergency safety.
- Liaise with Pharmacovigilance to deliver blended medical education on case events of clinical interest and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) with causal relationship to Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP).
- Provide support for safety sections of clinical documents and other documents as needed.
- Lead ALS and ILS training internally and externally.

Quality
- Responsible for maintaining hospital service level agreement in compliance with phase one regulatory standards (Including: Contracts, Mock Codes & Overall Performance).
- Participate in internal and external audits/inspections and ensure inspection readiness.
- Annually arrange four periodic mock codes.
- Leads / participates (depending on circumstances) in quality investigations ensuring implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Project manage and maintain understanding and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs).
- Simplify processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Registered healthcare professional BSc or Post Grad Certificate in Life Sciences
- ICH GCP, GDPR
- Leadership experience.
- RCUK ALS provider & instructor
- RCUK ILS course director
- RCUK EPALS provider & Instructor
