Lead Educator for Resuscitation Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Resuscitation team for a band 8a, Lead nurse for Resuscitation services, reporting directly to the Head of Resuscitation Services (HoRS).
We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic team player with extensive experience in paediatrics and resuscitation training and accreditation in EPALS/APALS or GIC.
This is a hands-on role which requires the post holder to deliver paediatric resuscitation training programmes in line with the Resuscitation Council UK guidelines, meeting specialist clinical staff requirements, Trust agreed targets and strategic objectives.
Collaborating with the Heads of Resuscitation services (HoRS) and key stake holders within the Trust, the post holder will identify and develop resuscitation, improvement strategies, to enhance all aspects of resuscitation education and clinical skills for all staff, to ensure best clinical practice for quality patinet management, in line with the and the service’s portfolios of the Resuscitation Department and the Great Ormond Street Learning Academy.
Main duties of the jobIn addition, we also require proven experience in delivering project-based change within resuscitation training practice, as a key deliverable of this role will be, the successful completion of resuscitation projects across the Trust.
This requires competence in owning and leading the project though each stage of the delivery life cycle (Analysis, planning, implementation, data collection, reporting and post implementation review) across the entire organisation.
It is imperative that within the clinical setting the post holder will act as a subject matter expert in paediatric resuscitation and management of the child/ young person with complex needs. They will be providing knowledge and support to colleagues within the Trust; whilst inspiring and enabling all staff to strive for excellence in this specialist field.
The post holder will produce regular audit reports on progress of all projects to the Head of Resuscitation Service and other stakeholders, and when required, will deputise for the HoRS at meetings with senior stakeholders.

- NMC Registered Nurse
- Instructor for Paediatric Advanced Life Support courses. Eg. EPALS/APLS/NLS/GIC
- Evidence of continuing professional development within resuscitation
- Evidence of current Revalidation with NMC
- Relevant Master’s degree (working towards) or equivalent experience.
- Experience of debriefing training/PEERS training.
- Evidence of valid Resuscitation Teaching qualification (GIC)(Generic Instructors course)
- Significant paediatric nursing experience in emergency medicine or ITU/HDU
- Extensive experience in the management of paediatric Cardiopulmonary Arrests/Resuscitation quality initiatives
- Demonstratable experience of leading, managing and developing paediatric nursing, clinical and resuscitation skills, for effective team dynamics and patient safety
- Current and extensive knowledge of resuscitation education and training
- Extensive paediatric experience in leading clinical education in resuscitation and nursing practices
- Understanding of inter-professional education
- Experience in leading on quality, governance, standards of care, clinical audit, benchmarking, performance standards
- Current and extensive knowledge of paediatric healthcare to contribute to the development of the Trust Strategy for Nursing and the wider GOSH learning Academy ambition
- Proven ability to develop staff through mentoring and supervision including the support of Professional nurse Advocacy Programme
- Experience in implementing pan-Trust projects
- Significant Nursing knowledge, advanced emergency dept/ITU/HDU experience, skills and expertise relating to deteriorating patients’ management and resuscitation of the paediatric patient and young person
- Able to work across professional team and organisational boundaries and maintain constructive relationships
- Ability to engage with key stake holders within the clinical setting locally and nationally ad internationally
- Quality improvement / practice development skills
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Ability to lead autonomously on projects and provide a multi-professional vision for resuscitation trust-wide
