The Sleep and Respiratory Physiology team strives to ensure the diagnostics, treatment and care our patients receive whilst under the service is of the highest standard.

Due to Field Safety Notices (FSN), a 12-1-month fixed term / secondment as a Specialist Practitioner within the team has arisen. This would be a fantastic opportunity for experienced Band 7 practitioner looking for a new challenge, particularly in a fast moving project such as this.

As a specialist practitioner, you will work alongside an established team to co-ordinate and complete the CPAP device recall programme, ensure the Mask FSN is fully implemented and implement pro-active remote monitoring of sleep therapy devices for the service. There is also the opportunity to support the staff with developing training posts.

- To work as an autonomous practitioner responsible for leading on the Field Safety Notices for CPAP devices and masks
- To organise and manage this caseload ensuring FSN is implemented within available budget.
- To line manage Junior members of the team
- Develop a learning culture and facilitate interdisciplinary learning across physiology and outpatient sleep/NIV service
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Field Safety Notice within the remit of the scheme
- Is an advanced autonomous practitioner who undertakes a comprehensive assessment of all patients impacted by the Field Safety notices to ensure therapy is appropriate to each service user.
- Develops and implements proactive remote monitoring strategy for domiciliary sleep therapy
- Develops and implements robust protocols/SOPs relevant to sleep service to ensure timely interventions when therapy is not being used or is ineffective.
- To be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the service, including cross site cover as the service required.

Most challenging part of the job
- To work with the Lead Respiratory Consultant, Nurse Consultant and Lead Sleep and Respiratory Physiologist to deliver on Trust compliance with FSNs for CPAP devices and mask - ensuring programme is completed within available budget.
- To work flexibly, providing cross cover to other sites as the service requires, with evening and / or weekend working as the service requires.
- To support the service to develop creative recruitment approaches and posts to support this hard to recruit speciality.
- To provide expert professional advice to staff, patients, carers and colleagues.
- Enabling a whole systems approach to support pro-active monitoring of sleep therapy to ensure appropriate use of therapy with good clinical outcomes, which enable users to receive the right care at the right time as near to their home as possible.
