Job Description: Open Banking Connect - Product Specialist

Overview

Mastercard is taking a strategic approach to the emergence of Open Banking as a global trend. Mastercard has launched a suite of services designed to enhance and strengthen the emerging Open Banking ecosystem in the EU (incl. UK), and across other geographies. These services are designed to build trust in the Open Banking ecosystem amongst consumers, Financial Institutions, Third Party Providers (TPPs) and retailers, as well as simplifying and streamlining their interactions with each other.

OB Connect provides technical API integration to Account Servicing Payment Service Providers (ASPSPs) for Account Information Service Providers (AISPs) and Payment Initiation Service Providers (PISPs).

With expansion in markets and Open Banking Connect product capabilities across Europe the role will be key to focus on
- strengthening core Open Banking Connect product across UK in Payments and potentially Data (AIS)
- Hungary market with key customers and scaled PSD2 connections
- Strategic customer led pilots, initiatives involving Open Banking Connect product

Role

You will:
1. Act as Product Specialist for Open Banking Connect product
- Act as primary contact for key Open Banking Connect product outcomes deliverables, including 3rd party dependencies with strategic connectivity partner
- Drive the analysis tasks, timescales and approach whilst supporting the Product Manager to achieve the delivery outcomes needed
- Working closely with Open Banking Connect Product Manager, Market and customer delivery teams alongside Engineering teams in Mastercard define shape and continually refine key delivery metrics and KPIs.
- Risk and Issue reporting, set up and co-ordinate steering groups involving 3rd party and Mastercard leadership (monthly).

2. Seek opportunities to continuously improve both the product and development process
- Monitor transactional data, proactively review performance data, log analytics etc, to identify trends and issues which may be help improve product taking into account market gaps, opportunities and weaknesses, future technology / developments, competitor products / services and the changing requirements of legislative and regulatory bodies.
- Identify incremental operational tweaks that improve the overall customer experience and remove waste from the system
- Passion to learn and continually improve the method and approach to product ownership within the overall Open Banking team

3. Develop Product expertise and execute tailored customer improvement plans
- Working as part of Connectivity product team negotiate with 3rd party delivery teams to support development of additional Open Banking features
- Working closely with Customer implementation teams (Customer Delivery) and Operations (support) identify and proactively manage implementation tickets with 3rd party
- Oversee progress of implementations, working with Customer Delivery colleagues to resolve issues rapidly

All About You

Skills and experience required for this role are:

- Strong analysis and problem solving skills. A desire to learn and a curiosity to understand our payment systems products and processes.
- Experience in the Payments Industry, ideally Clearing and Settlement systems. Experience with Account to Account Payments is desirable.
- Knowledge of APIs and their use in the context of products
- Working knowledge and experience of agile product development and methodologies
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle
- Strong project management (with an agile focus), analytical skills and financial literacy
- Experience of collaborating effectively across an organisation with internal colleagues and third party suppliers (e.g. IT, Operations, legal, finance and marketing)
- Proven track record in Business Analysis within a complex change environment.
- Experience in using structured analysis techniques and able to evaluate and plan approaches on projects
- Able to communicate at all levels within the business, clearly and concisely
- The ability to work, under pressure, in a cross-functional global team.
