An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, innovative individual to work in a demanding, complex, and rapidly changing Operational Police Training section of our Organisation Development & Learning Department.

As an Operational Skills Trainer you will be responsible for the design and delivery of complex, extensive learning and development (L&D) programmes, enabling the organisation to achieve its goals and individuals to fulfil their potential in accordance with the People Development Strategy.

You will work closely with our external partner Sheffield Hallam University and our internal stakeholders to provide the best learning opportunities for our students.

You will also be involved in the writing and delivery of course materials for Police Community Support Officer Apprenticeship Programmes, Neighbourhood Police Training, Transferee Courses, Coaching Professional Apprentices & Special Constable training.

**Some Key Responsibilities of the role are**:

- Design and develop learning programmes and sessions, consistent with the 70:20:10 model, identifying and incorporating training and learning methodologies that are capable of meeting individual and organisational learning needs with available resources and within specified timescales.
- Research, design, develop and maintain learning materials that enhance the learning and engage the learners.
- Deliver training using a wide range of learning methodologies ensuring learners are managed, motivated, facilitated, coached, and supported to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
- Determine an appropriate assessment strategy and conduct learner assessments, to evaluate and record prior learning and the achievement of intended learning outcomes at appropriate points in the programme, and to meet internal or national verification standards.
- Be a visible role model, consistently demonstrate professional principles and personal integrity and promoting CPD.

**Skills and experience**:

- Minimum Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent
- Knowledgeable and experienced in the delivery of broad spectrum of policing operational skills including legislation, investigation PIP Level 1 and areas covered by the national police curriculum for initial training.
- Skilled in using questioning, listening and non-verbal communication techniques to give, elicit and receive feedback and to overcome communication barriers.

Fixed: This is a traditional arrangement, applicable when the work is mostly required to be undertaken at a fixed single place of work (on police premises) for most of the time. The work can only or is more effectively delivered from a police premises or other agreed organisational/partner premises.
