Howden Joinery is recruiting a Site Permit Writer for our Runcorn site, reporting to the site facilities manager. The facilities team is a small team and we are looking for a dynamic individual who can work flexibly within it and adapt to the daily needs of this role.

As the Site Permit Writer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all contractor activities, from writing permits and organising work schedules to liaising with contractors. You will also be responsible for conducting risk assessments and preparing method statements to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site.

**What will you be doing as a Site Permit Writer**:

- Collaborate closely with all operational functions to manage contractor activities and ensure all work aligns with business needs while adhering to UK Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) and Howden’s safety policies.
- Ensure that all site activities comply with legislative requirements and internal safety policies.
- Permit writing and control of contractors. Coaching, mentoring and communication is key.
- Develop workable contractor plans; communicates changes effectively; ability to change plans ‘on the fly’.
- Support the Boiler house facilities team when necessary.
- Completion of Risk Assessments and method statements and the auditing of them upon receipt from the contractors.

**What do you need to qualify for the Site Permit Writer**:

- **Experience**: Proven experience in permit writing, risk assessment, and contractor management.
- **Technical Skills**: Competence in reading and interpreting Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS).
- **Communication**: Strong report writing skills, able to produce clear business correspondence and manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to queries from production and maintenance teams.
- **Problem-solving**: Aptitude for defining problems, collecting relevant data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- **Project Management**: Ability to coordinate contractor projects, communicate changes effectively, and ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of contractor activities.
- **Interpersonal Skills**: Excellent influencing and coaching abilities, with a knack for building robust relationships.
- **Leadership**: Results-driven with a focus on people, capable of leading by example and motivating others to achieve goals.
- **Technical Knowledge**: Familiarity with SAP and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is advantageous.
